Where to find TVs to fix?

Just wondering if anyone has any better ways than Craigslist to find TVs. For me Craigslist no longer seems a viable option. There are now about a dozen or more people doing the same thing as me and I'm coming up with nothing. Backpage is a ghost town here. What else is there? Ebay there is too much competition and I'm not going to bid some crazy amount when I don't even know it the screen is good. I know there are thousands of broken TVs in this city but no clue how to find them.

Basically what I am looking for is a few TVs a week which I can either fix or part out on Ebay at this point.

    Any ideas?

know any friends in recycling centers?sometimes its not what you know its who you know!,i get around 20-25 a week quite regular,do get slow periods though, look out when tv power supplys go 0605 smd,if its possible!,is it gonna be worth the hassle?.

when all the new 3D tv's start going tits up,id expect sooner rather than later going by the crap they chuck together to make a box for viewing, its going to be hard, learning new 3D tech, over priced boards that not many can afford, people getting greedy with selling broken tv's that have already latched onto the fact.

im sort of getting fed up with fixing crappy VESTAL made re-badges,everytime i take a back off a tv my heart sinks, knowing that around 70% of what i fix is going to be these.

its going to be a "fix your own tv".because not many will be able to find them!

sadly tv repair for the hobbiest is on a rapidly downward spiral .

    get yourself into avionics........
fixed so far...376 lg lcd tv's,24 onn tv;s,24 panasonic lcd,16 jvc lcd,12 marshall jcm800 amps, refurb of various disco equipment lighting, old style disco decks ,and a flymo!

please let us know if everything works ok if your tv gets fixed, as it will be and aid for anyone else having the same problem and wishing to fix it.it would save people clogging up this site with topics that are duplicated, and can be found easily using the search function.,and taking up valuable space.enjoy your fixed tv!,hopefully!

Unfortunately we have a major electronics recycling center here and everything which comes into the city's hands must go to them. I have looked them up on ebay and their feedback is over 100,000. They are doing the same thing as me but on an exponential level. I've been thinking about going old fashioned and sending out flyers. 20-25 a week would be great. I am lucky if I can find 2 a week. I will look into the possibility of some of the smaller townships having recycling centers. Maybe I could talk to the trash men and offer a finders fee or something but this is the wrong season. Anything that's been outside is probably damaged by water and snow.

You could try to find the Trash / Recycling collection routes / time table for your local area and take a quick drive around the evening or early morning before they collect?

In the past I posted ads on Craig's list offering TV repair service and offer to buy broken TVs with cracked screen. Or if I'm selling a working TV I will mention I buy non working TV or allow a trade in or I will give credit toward buying my working TV. this will get people interested all the time !!

I currently offer TV repair and offer to buy on CL. The past few I bought were through that ad. I have been thinking about a trade in option for a while now.

Backlight strip quality, Amazon vs Ebay vs ShopJimmy. Is there really a difference?
                by DXseekerMO
                Hello everyone!

Recently I've noticed that some ShopJimmy backlight strips don't have double-sided tape installed upon them when an application calls for it, and I must purchase the tape separately. In a recent chat conversation with a customer service agent I told them if this tape wasn't applied when it was called for I would begin to consider ordering my backlight strips elsewhere. It looks like this time may have come.

I recently got a TCL 65S4 with bad backlights. After looking at the SJ listing here: https://www.shopjimmy.com/tcl-jl-d65...365as-m-led-ba...

Where to find a very small fpc connector 0.3mm between 2 pins ?
                by corrize
Hello, I search this connector (oxydated).
It's a fpc zif low profile connector. It come from camera sensor, it is very small : 0.3mm between 2 pins.
I ordered 2 from Aliexpress called « 0.3mm pitch » but one was 0.5mm between 2 pins and the other 0.6mm. In fact « 0.3mm pitch » seams to be the pad width and not the distance between 2 pins.
I can't find it. The other websites like mouser dont show the datasheet, and I can't check if it is 0.3mm between 2 pins ?

Do you know how to find this connector please ? What is the exact name for find it ?

Sentey ATX PSU - ERP650-PS - Trying to find out the right Standby IC
                by temyth
Greetings! I have this ERP650-PS atx power supply, it is a relatively simple psu, the primary has a driver IC that controls the two main mosfets (two 20n60S5), together with a Classic Standby circuit with a PWM IC (not a FET like the VIper22A) , relatively similar to the SDC606P.

The whole point is that I got this power supply years ago when I had no knowledge, apparently the PWM IC was burned because someone turned the power supply on with the switch at 110v in a 220v network (classic error). Important detail: the power supply at the time came without the primary capacitors.
