4 red flash led 65X950G boot Sony and android logo but then black

    HI guys

I got here a Sony 65X950G - I tried to find any repairs guides for this model but not many online

    here is the issue
I have Sony and android logo. but then 4 led red flash lights front of the tv

I have 3.3v ref. 12v reg then T con 12v when I press the power on button
but then I get black screen and 4 red flash light at the front LED
but I get 3 led flash on the LED driver board.

I check that few X900F or C YouTube repairs, seems that if you have 4 led red flash it could be due of LED black light error
so I tried Nick cheat, check the BL_ERR for power
but I don't get any, is that mean the back light should be ok?

so anyone know what is the 3 flash red led on the LED board?
also what could be the issue ? main board?

Replace backlights. That's what the 4 blink code is. Nicks cheat is just a workaround and not a permanent fix anyways

He/she has no voltage on bl-error pin, possibly the led driver board, can you check voltages going to and from it.

Post some straight on pictures of each board and one of the whole back as to see how everything is connected.

Check those 2 fuses on that led driver board if you have not yet.

sometimes after removing a board or disconnect all wires to the main board or LD board. and put it back,
it will boot all the way to start up menu, to select the language. but only for few seconds then screen off and flash 4 led red on front of the tv.
any suggestion? is the back light LED ? LD board ? or main board?

                    Looking online
it seems the led backlight might be the issue

but anyone know a tip to check on the LD board to be sure the led is drawing more or less power or voltage ?

I only seen tech showing 2 wires Sony tv backlights repairs
where you can check the power withdraw with tester
so you can most likely confirm the issue
haven't seen any repairs tech online with LD boards diagnosed
also they showed BL_ERR voltage up
This tv doesn't have BL_ERR with power so I am worryi take it apart and all led are ok

                      hey Guys and ladies
I got the tv working again. there is another BL_ERR trace from mainboard to LD board. so tv now works fine. but the LD board still flash 3 times red.
after tv is working I used YouTube to show white screen. and I can noticed a dark spot near the centre so that means there is 1 or 2 LED backlight burnt.
I guess this will be a future project. at least with this test. I can be sure what to order.
you heard most people with 4 or 6 Sony blink red. they have replaced boards and still same issue
and I was worry if I open the tv and the led was ok. then just wasted time. and specially with 65 inch screen I am worry about cracking the screen.
I had open and fixed few 50 or 55 inch by myself. with larger screen. better have help or have to make one of those suction cup with frame to prevent the screen flex too much and crack. I can't believe those tech who just use 2 suction cups for 65 or 70 inch to remove the screen. I just think if one of those cup looses the grip. that is it for the screen.

anyways with this test. I can confirmed what is wrong with this tv.

or wait until more LED fail. because with pictures or videos going on the tv. I don't actually see the dark spot.

Sonys are strange, funny there was no voltage on your bl-error pin.

                          Oh just let explain

this tv has 2 line that are BL_ERR

one from main board to power bower
this one is more obviously marked on the power board

2nd one is no so obviously
                          there wasn't any label
but there is another one from main board to LD board
I saw YouTube for older model
the tech grounded that trace and works

of course I had to double check
I was getting 3v on the 2nd trace from main board to LD board
but no voltage from main board to power board
it is not a constant 3v, it was more like tv was doing test and and sending 3v for couple of times and shuts off

                          after ground it
                          it works
just reminder it is only temporary fix
need to replace the LED strip

Ok, that makes sense, was wondering if you were doing the grounding correctly, not easy trying to do things remotely without seeing things in person. If you turn the backlights down as far as you can and still have reasonable picture it will last longer, being they will not be working as hard.

                              Thanks for the tip
I always lower my brightness to 50-60%
most tv die because most owners turn brightness to 100%
imagine how hot it can get if running 100% oh a hot day
                              but don't tell anyone
that way I can buy or get free tv to repair
                              haha

4 blink code is definitely backlights. I just fixed this same model with same symptom replacing backlights

I guess it is most likely to be LED backlights
but I want to be sure before you take everything apart
                                    right?

By the way did you replace all led strips or just burnt one?
And where did you get them? Sony oem? Or online tv used parts?
I am worry about getting cheap led that burnt quickly

The ground out proves a backlight issue, real pain digging to backlights on these but only way to fix a bad led. You seem to definitely have a backlight issue. Something for other cases is 4 blinks can also relate to a ld board issue so jumping right at backlights in those cases could be a lot of wasted effort if the problem is only the ld board, remember not to assume, need to test and troubleshoot.

In terms of troubleshooting you are correct and Sonys manual states that as well. Sony only tries that because the tech can change the boards. They never tear apart and replace backlights. They provide new panel with backlights and reinstall your old boards or replace tv altogether

However I have fixed a lot of these Sonys and never had ld board be bad. It's always the backlights
