As to post #72, I have never seen this person post anything first...that was the correct solution. -
Also I will say that I have never seen or even read about a sony screen being bad with these symptoms you are having and that covers the last 11 years I've been here and plenty more.Leave a comment:

So do DIAH'S screen test, that will tell the tale. I don't assume anything, I will say that imo sonys have MUCH less screen issues than most other brands.Leave a comment:

Well as usual, someone is just running off at the mouth, I wonder whoDiah is the one who said to test screen in post #14, this wannabe P is just echoing that FACT. Even if you can't fix it, you have a mainboard that has been passed by a professional tech. If you can not fix the tv you can sell the mainboard, doubt very much that Nicks fee will be anywhere near that so you did not hurt yourself and you don't have to wonder about the mainboard any more. This is obvious but evidently SOMEONE, p, doesn't understand it, people don't work for free, if there's any pro techs out there that want to spend an hour testing my boards for free, by ALL means let me know.

Well I heard from Nicks today and they said that the MB was in perfect working order. They felt that with the MB functional and from what I told them was going on, they thought it was either the LED strips ( which is definitely is not because I can see them light up or the panel itself has failed. I did write back and ask if in any way it could be the Tcon but I havent heard back yet. It would really suck that the panel fails and there is no fix..Leave a comment:

UH, not everyone is a tv tech or wants to be so if someone wants to change out boards it's their prerogative. Ever stop to think that TIME is also money??? Anyone with reasonable intelligence realizes that time is even more valuable than money as it can not be replaced.Last edited by nomoresonys; 08-03-2024, 11:49 AM.Leave a comment:

Yes it is absolutely the right way but just for curiosity can we se some pictures of your tv and all the boars thanks in advance for some feedback after NickLeave a comment:

Ya, I tossed around different ideas, buy a used MB and try it, if it doesn't work, buy Tcon and try, but ultimately it was the fact that Nicks guys told me that they ( if they find issue ) they repair the issue and also other known to go bad parts. Seems more logical that route than to buy a used one, and if it does work, get a little time from it before it goes bad because of age.
I really do wish I understood more of what you guys spoke, but even if it came down to the EMMC being bad, I have no way of fixing that component. When I do have the end result. I will be back to post to give clarity on the issue.Leave a comment:

Well at least Nick can verify the mainboard one way or another, this tv is direct lit so it might be worth the time and expense. If it were edge lit I would surely not bother with it.Leave a comment:

Hi all. How did this repair go, have you solved the problem? Tell us if it's so .it's strange that no one asked for pictures of this TVLeave a comment:

Davi.p Ok your way ( remove lvds cable from MB, jumper a 12v from PSB to tcon fuse, turn on and see full screen colours for the time to eliminate doubts.. ) The tv came on dark blue screen.
The other way that it was not responsive was Diah's was in post #14, when plugged in, I could do anything and no self test as you say.Leave a comment:

OMG....tv must not turn on normally, main board is detached and isolated, cannot load any software, only tcon circuitry must run, must cycle full screen colours.. is a self test built in the tcon.. tcon is likely be ok, panel maybe is ok, but panel circuitry can be shot, since no load is.present on the.main board cable, maybe 12v rises a bit more and shorted component goes full short, two ways now, check panel strip boards for bad caps, or put a resistive load on the 12v to lower.it and retest screen..
sorry, third way, an.ATX power.supply can provide around 10,5v when using only the 12v output, can.use.it to power tcon, for the backlight you use the normal PS board with jumpersLast edited by Davi.p; 07-23-2024, 03:48 PM.Leave a comment:

Again today
connected Pin 5 STBY_3.3V to PIN 9 Power_ON & pin 7 BL_ON & pin 26 T-CON_ON. At the connection of all 4 wires, had a reading of 3.57
connected 12V from the pin 25 T-CON VCC and put it on the F fuse on the T-con, had a read of 12.51 at the fuse.
Plugged TV into wall, I got one click.
After that, the remote or joystick was unresponsive, TV would not turn onLeave a comment:

Jumped from PIN27 TCON_VCC12v to Fuse on TCON. Plugged in, turned on, TV went thru its loading as far as back lighting, but the screen stayed dark blue. Android start up sound played. I verified I was getting the 12v to the fuse and yes I was get 12.+ voltsLeave a comment:

how can you jump a single pin to others inserting jumper wires? You need a side without pins and twist copper together.. check the pin outs for correct tensions..Leave a comment:

by Ryan.manHello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!
My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.
This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen... -
by reformattJust had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".
It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...07-31-2025, 08:37 PM -
by ChrissygizmoHello again everyone,
This is my latest mission, to try getting this Sony tv back to normal working order…
I've only just got it today, when you power it up everything is as should be, in fact it works perfectly for a few minutes then the screen starts getting horizontal lines on & eventually the full screen goes back, I will upload photos of the problem & also some photos of the board etc. You might notice that I'm busy trying the tape method, I'm not sure exactly where the clock lines are so I'm just guessing & hoping for the best lol . I've already tried... -
by zukdjA new main board and power supply was installed on my TV last night, purchased the parts at ShopJimmy. I had no power before installing both parts. Now the TV powers on and I hear music as it cycles through a white-red-green-blue screen. I was thinking it may be a firmware mismatch with the parts however I am skeptical as to plugging in a USB stick with the newest firmware on it since I cannot do any user interaction since all I see is colors on the screen, will the firmware start and complete on its own once the USB is inserted or does it require user input? Someone told me it is in Purity Check...

by Adam RussWeird issue with this tv. Was streaming to the from a computer when it stopped working and the screen went black. Ever since then there has been. o image. Just a black screen. The audio works and yhe backlights do come on when it's powered on, it's just a black image. It presented like a backlight issue. So I finally got around to getting new backlights and a backlight tester. All of them test the same as the good backlights with the same voltages. There are no blinking lights. Just the white led at startup and when buttons on the remote are pressed signaling it's receiving from the remote....
