I did try the tape in several places but nothing. Everything is still the same with no pic just sound. I guess the panel went to ghost. I wish I knew more because in those videos you sent, they get very detailed in what to do, I just dont have the knowledge to know what everything is to read, or what it should or not show. Appreciate all the help.

For vgl its voff, veeg, vgoff -7 to -9. Another voltage to check is vdd also known as v logic, dvd 3.3 volts. Another is avdd also known as vdda, vda 12-18 volts.Last edited by nomoresonys; 08-27-2024, 07:06 PM.Leave a comment:

You checked it with one ribbon cable at a time connected correct? hmm, that might be a good thing, maybe just the tcon is bad and the panel isnt shorted?Last edited by nomoresonys; 08-27-2024, 06:45 PM.Leave a comment:

So ok, I was able to watch a few other videos and saw where its also called VONE and VOFFE. I have found VONE on my Tcon, but it doesnt read anything ( 0.01v ). I tried the ribbons to see if I get half a screen, and no i dont and the voltage stays at 0.

For the life of me I cant find anything labeled VGH. Ive tested what ever I can find that has a V and so far so good on the readings though. I keep looking for it though since you said if there is no VGH then its the panel, might as well till I try a new TconLeave a comment:

Of course not nomoresonys, dont like giving up, but when its an avenue that I dont travel much and I dont understand things or words. By nature I like to try to fix everything before i throw it away, but my skill level in electronics of this nature is not very high. Ill try to run the updates and all that and see if that helps. I was actually going to try a new Tcon board also just to see. Right now, there is no change in the screen if i unplug the Tcon or leave it plugged in with the ribbon cable coming from the MB.Last edited by nomoresonys; 08-27-2024, 02:44 PM.Leave a comment:

Sorry Diah, I assumed by the statement since I was having trouble getting the plate off ( small things ) and the doubt about the standalone test and then with the final seek help before i cause damage, I figured you were doubting me and wanted to give up. I doubt my skills haha thats why Im here. i was able to figure out how to remove that panel, after the screws removed there were 3 of 4 black things holding it in place that needed to be pushed in so the panel could be lifted and slid back. I could see the panels and all the u shaped ribbons running to the panel itself.Leave a comment:

Do you really want to give up? ALL is not tried yet, now listen up, DO or at least try to do the update/re-pair, no joy then DO these tcon tests, a video is worth a million words. This is one of those youtubers that knows what hes doing, just follow his lead, lets see what we get.once again this is tv repair not brain surgery, these tests are really not that hard, specially with a good how to video right there: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5uD1tzMdUs

Those tests on tcon have been done OVER and over and are tried and true, when you have missing vgh with one cable unhooked but comes back with the other side unhooked, you have found the fault, this case is the panel, which can be "fixed" or at least made workable.Leave a comment:

by Ryan.manHello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!
My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.
This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen... -
by reformattJust had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".
It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...07-31-2025, 08:37 PM -
by ChrissygizmoHello again everyone,
This is my latest mission, to try getting this Sony tv back to normal working order…
I've only just got it today, when you power it up everything is as should be, in fact it works perfectly for a few minutes then the screen starts getting horizontal lines on & eventually the full screen goes back, I will upload photos of the problem & also some photos of the board etc. You might notice that I'm busy trying the tape method, I'm not sure exactly where the clock lines are so I'm just guessing & hoping for the best lol . I've already tried... -
by zukdjA new main board and power supply was installed on my TV last night, purchased the parts at ShopJimmy. I had no power before installing both parts. Now the TV powers on and I hear music as it cycles through a white-red-green-blue screen. I was thinking it may be a firmware mismatch with the parts however I am skeptical as to plugging in a USB stick with the newest firmware on it since I cannot do any user interaction since all I see is colors on the screen, will the firmware start and complete on its own once the USB is inserted or does it require user input? Someone told me it is in Purity Check...

by Adam RussWeird issue with this tv. Was streaming to the from a computer when it stopped working and the screen went black. Ever since then there has been. o image. Just a black screen. The audio works and yhe backlights do come on when it's powered on, it's just a black image. It presented like a backlight issue. So I finally got around to getting new backlights and a backlight tester. All of them test the same as the good backlights with the same voltages. There are no blinking lights. Just the white led at startup and when buttons on the remote are pressed signaling it's receiving from the remote....
