    Can I fit a UE49MU6470 Diffuser into a UE49NU7100K?

    Evening all,

    Long time no post!

I have a UE49NU7100K here with the classic melted diffuser and damaged backlight from getting too hot. Locally there is a UE49MU6470 available which I could pick up to replace the melted diffuser. Would this work or am I missing something? They look like the same style of backlight.

If this sounds good, where is the best place to buy a new backlight? Will I regret buying from Aliexpress?

Thanks in advance for any help

I got one of these today un55nu6900 and threw it in the corner to clean out some old junk TVs. Then I had the idea to try and use a different frame and backlights since these keep having the same problem.

Long story short I used the chassis and backlights from a un55mu6300. Put the screen in and main board from the nu series and powered it up. Works great and no longer have to worry about the backlights burning out and cracking/ melting the diffuser.

This won’t help most people but any techs/ shops with TVs that have broken screens might find it useful.

Yes, the mu is full array so different setup as the nu is edgelit
Some useful information narrowed down, but the pictures I'm looking at of the stripped MU look like an edgelight.... Further research required. Thank you Storyteller12

I transplant diffusers all the time. The new one(hope it's free) could have same melter diffuser without knowing yet either. Also sometimes the thickness of the diffuser changes. Those look like European models but the nu6000 and nu7000 here from like 2018-2020 roughly in US are basically the same, some RU series etc also. I'm sure you'd have luck. All the dimensions length and width are the same here, only the thickness is different. I've also used slightly thicker diffusers then original and all the side snap pieces went down no problem with the height difference.

Edit also for the post above, I have gotten TVs that had good backlights and bad panel and instead of changing the diffuser sheet (never goes back together easy) I have transplanted the screen and boards only. The frames were exactly the same so I could transplant the boards etc. I feel once you take off the diffuser frame that's where all the problems start also. So if you can get away with doing that, I prefer this method. It's not "new backlights" but it's ones that still work. Either way this at least worked for me.

Funny enough though!! I did this one time and the original frame had a 2 blink reboot panel. I transplanted a new screen and boards to this frame and 1 week later the NEW TV had 2 blink reboot panel. Could of been a coincidence but thought I'd share that

Cheers EazyBone but it looks like the MU range I was looking to transplant have a different style of backlight - full array, i.e. from the top & bottom rather than just the bottom. I am hoping to hear from Storyteller12 as it sounds like has successfully transplanted a MU backlight onto an NU screen, but this could well be outside my skillset if it requires significant work

Otherwise it looks like a new diffuser is available for roughly £20 delivered as option 2 https://www.sos-parts.com/diffuser-t...8a-123726.html

OMG if it's that cheap. You need to order it. Ive transplanted a MU and a NU and both were edge lit. But yes I see his model is a full array. I've pulled apart many full array and they aren't even close to an edgelit diffuser so I wonder the same question.

Save yourself a headache and order a new one if it's that cheap

Thank you EazyBone. If you're also replacing the backlight on these models is it worthwhile paying a premium for some sort of nicer part? Or will a cheap chinese one do the trick?

In my personal experience, you can't tell what's a more premium part. I'm pretty sure all of the lights come from China and are machine built.

I have only been doing this about 8-9 months now so I don't know how long they would theoretically last. So far I bought 3 strips of LEDs from shop jimmy. One set was faulty. I bought about 40 from ali express, 1 was defective after a month. I bought about 60 from eBay. None have broke yet, although eBay/aliexpress sellers are likely the same. But this only assumes my customers reached out to me again, potentially more broke and no one has wrote back. Maybe lotas, diah, Davi or storyteller have a better answer

There are two different diffusers listed as available for this model - BN61-15664A & BN61-15658A - if I disassemble mine is this part number etched into the diffuser somewhere? Or is there another resource for finding which would be the correct part?

                Thanks in advance

Whatever link you put says it's compatible with your tv so likely it is. Samsungs tend to have many compatible parts for same TV. I cannot say 100 percent, but if the website says it's compatible and it isn't, wouldn't you be able to just get a refund?

Just make sure after you install the diffuser/lights and push down all the plastic edges that you plug it in. If any raised spots are on the frame or not pushed down enough it will show as bright spots on bottom of screen. Make sure you disconnect main board from PSU before you plug it in so that it turns only lights on

Eazybone the mu series that are edgelit are the 7000 series and higher. The 6000 series are full array.

you can put the nu series screen in the mu series chassis but you need to use the mu chassis power board and nu mainboard.

also I think I needed to extend the wires for the power button. It’s a slightly different button on the mu chassis but everything worked when powered up.

Thanks for coming back both. Sale of the MU unit fell through so I've gone ahead and ordered a new diffuser and backlight - total cost £32 delivered. Lets hope that sorts it

Storyteller12 I can see why you are so anti repair on these units - awful design - but the set is going to be for personal use and I'll just set the backlight on a low setting

The ordered diffuser turned up and it's the wrong one so I'm looking at other options. There is a smashed UE65AU7100K locally - is this edge lit or something else does anyone know? Cheers, Rufus

My research shows that model ue65au7100 is edgelit.
however I’m in the US and they do not make this tv here. We only have AU8000. But the au8000 is edgelit also

Right I've picked up a UE49NU7172U for £10 to use for parts for this. The screen was smashed so initially I have disassembled the TV to check it's backlight is all working correctly and....

Has the broken panel somehow leaked into the diffuser? Or does it just need carefully wiping clean? I have the bulbs here to do the backlight so that should be simple enough

This is turning into more hassle than it's worth!

Something leaked onto it, water or some liquid. Does it wipe down? Would definitely try that first.

                                          Hi,

I have seen some threads that touched this subject, but none of them actually answered the question I have in my mind.

I've bought a 'not working' Samsung UE49NU7100K, which turned out to be working but with no backlights. I did not bother to do any PSU measurings as TV itself is working, was pretty sure a single LED has burned out.
After disassembling I was surprised to see edge-lit backlight and the diffuser which was cracked and melted in many, many places, almost like every single LED has burned it. Most of the LEDs look burned out by the way, which made...

First thread here on this forum, excuse me if I miss something in my first post.

I have the 55” variant of the Frame TV which is essentially a QLED tv. There's a weird problem where it would keep on restarting on its own. Funny thing is it might work perfectly for couple of days and then decides to go down the restart route. A few pointers:
                                          1. If I let the TV sit idle for a day, for the very first time it boots after that time period it usually keeps working for 5 minutes before restarting. After that it restarts every 5 seconds.
                                          2. I've tried the tape method and...

                                          by bios_
                                          Hello!

I have received a defective Asus Z9PE-D8WS board from someone.
It supports 2 LGA2011 CPUs. One of the 2 CPU EPS power connectors has a melted +12V pin and the ATX connector (24 pin connector) has one melted and burned +3.3V pin.

                                          He claims it doesn't post.
What could have caused this? Especially the burned 3.3V?

Could I just solder on new connectors and try to boot it up? How should I go about trying to fix this? I've checked for direct shorts but couldn't identify any.

                                          Any help is appreciated

So I started this thread for all of us TV fixers to post our Samsung NU model series backlight failure and resulting main diffuser melt-downs. Please do post pictures!

Either Samsung needs to recall these TVs for this problem or provide owners with updated parts that will not repeat the same failure!

                                          I will start:

Samsung UN40NU7100FXZA, left-side backlights failed, left side of main diffuser and reflector sheet behind it melted in the shape of the LEDs below it. Picture #1 and 2 below.
