Looking again the patch has moved after it's been stood upright for a few days - lets hope it's just water....!

Final question before re-asssembly - does it matter which way round the perspex sheets are in terms which side of the sheet faces the front? and if so how do I tell which orientation is correct? I have the sheets in the correct order I think

The best thing to do is to put them exactly as they were at the time of removal
Because if you turn them 360 degrees it can have a big effect on light reflectivity that it can get brighter on the upper partโ€‹

The correct order matters, I don't think orientation will matter. The diffuser orientation matters.

Disconnect the main board and plug in the power cord and the LEDs should turn on, then you can flip them up and down while it's plugged in and see for yourself. I would do this anyways after installation of the diffuser because there is always small points that might not be clipped etc and you'll catch any imperfections before you reassemble the whole TV

I'm going to need to take it back apart to give the diffuser a clean but we have progress!

You have bright spots in bottom corners, make sure the snap connectors are down enough. That's going to show up on the picture. Those other spots, put the sheets over top lay it flat and turn it on, it hides some of what you see so brightly. Then you'll have a better estimation of what you need to cleanup. Not all of that will show through

Thanks again for the fantastic tips. Will give it a go tomorrow and see where we get to. I did this in a rush this afternoon, I think as you say the corners are either not quite snapped in correctly or the weight of the tv sat on it is distorting it. To be continued!

Yes! Everything should look as close as possible to this area here or it's going to show up once you put the tv back together. Like I said put those other 2 sheets on and lay it flat, and put lights on and some of the defects will go away. But definitely not those bright spots

I don't think I will be able to resolve the issue in the bottom left fully as manually applying pressure hasn't changed much - BUT I'm really happy with the result. I'm going to put the panel back on once the capacitors have had 20 minutes to discharge

No amount of fiddling with the ribbon cable seems to improve it, I think I might have to admit defeat on this occasion. Thanks everyone for your input

Yea, I've had this happen once before, but to be fair the backlight was out so maybe it was already there before changing it. Sorry to see

                            Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

                            by mrsith
                            Hi,

I have seen some threads that touched this subject, but none of them actually answered the question I have in my mind.

I've bought a 'not working' Samsung UE49NU7100K, which turned out to be working but with no backlights. I did not bother to do any PSU measurings as TV itself is working, was pretty sure a single LED has burned out.
After disassembling I was surprised to see edge-lit backlight and the diffuser which was cracked and melted in many, many places, almost like every single LED has burned it. Most of the LEDs look burned out by the way, which made...

                            Graphics Card mounting frame
                            by Kemer
Hello, I removed the graphics card from my laptop and I want to heat it in the oven. What I want to ask is, is it okay to heat the card without removing the metal mounting frame on it?

As you can see in the photo, there is a plastic (black) gasket between the metal frame and the card. It sticks the frame tightly to the card.

I previously removed the metal frame while heating it, but it is quite difficult to separate it from the surface it is attached to. If there is no problem, I do not want to remove it.

What worries me right now is the possibility that...

                            by V3dran
                            Hello,
I'm trying to repair a UE50NU7022KXXH with a cracked diffuser/lpg and now also with burned leds
There are 4/5 white spots on the bottom that are not visible since the left side is dark now so I want to change the diffuser/lpg

Looking the samsung spare parts, I see that there is a DIFFUSER PLATE and a LPG so I'm wondering what is really broken?

Reattaching new edge to edge LCD panel to tv frame - Hisense 55a6g and others
                            by mecha1166
Some new tvs have an LCD screen attached to the outside of the frame with foam tape. These are "edge to edge" as they are called. I am trying to figure out how to reattach an LCD panel back up to the frame. The manufacturer used 3/16 inch foam tape along the top and rh/lh edges. I used a razor blade to separate the panel from the metal frame. The metal frame that the panel is taped to is 1/4 inch wide along the 2 sides and top. I completely removed the residue from the metal frame. There is some residue on the panel itself along the 3 edges, I removed almost all of it using alcohol and...
