Vizio VO42L FHDTV10A Buttons not working

I fixed this TV about 2 years ago. it had bad inverters. I purchased the upgraded boards and installed them. I am now getting a few buttons on the side control that are not working and some of the buttons on the remote are not working.
The power button on the TV won't work but the power button on the remote works.
The channels work on the TV but the remote does not work. When I try to change the volume on the remote vol - works but vol + changes inputs. I thought it would post this strange occurrence and see if someone can tell me where to start.

Could be that a setting somewhere has got lost which tells the TV what remote control or side button assy it is supposed to work with.

Re: Vizio VO42L FHDTV10A Buttons not working

Are the batteries good? Any corrosion on battery contacts in remote? Some times buttons go bad from use or poor quality or dirt and grime that gets in remote. Remotes are commonly used while eating popcorn while watching TV. Check if any of your friends have a universal remote that can be programed for Vizio. I use a 15 buck universal remote from Walmart that I use at the shop. This will at least maybe fix one problem. The buttons on side of set may be the buttons or a loose connector from workinh on the set. There are little cards that reflect light from the infared remotes. This gives a reasonable idea thet the remote is working. Start witht e easy stuff before jumping to the complex repairs.

You can also point the remote at your digital camera to check if the remote is putting out or not, you will see IR remote transmitter flashing on the camera's screen.
I wonder about this " upgraded boards" if it is the correct one and it is really compatible with this chassis or was it working fine then you now have these problems.

when I first got the tv one inverter had burned up. I replaced just the one and about 1 month later the other one died. so I found the replacement that would replace both inverters and give me a 6 month warranty. I replaced both and the tv work great. I would say it work for about 1 year and then it started doing this button thing. I will test the tv with a universal remote I have and see if that fixes that. I will also check the board for cold solder connections.

OK, so you replaced the inverter boards which will not have any affect on the function of the switch assembly or the remote function. I thought you replaced the main board which is possible the cause of the problem you are having right now.
