Sony Bravia T-Con Power Spike and drop?????

    Hi all!

I have been diagnosing what is wrong with my Sony bravia KDL-46XBR4 and took the entire t-con board off of the panel to inspect it. I decided to create a solder bridge across the top of the fuse because it appeared that the fuse may be bad. When I did so and hooked it up there was a noticeable change. I took my ohm meter and decided to put the positive side (with it switched to 20 DC) and put it on the back of the t-con fuse. The meter read, 3, 6, 10, 12.2, 1, 3, 5, 10, 12.1, 0 and while it was spiking up and back down I could hear a strange clicking sound on the t-con itself. At every very quiet click the power would drop back to zero or close to it.

I tested the power coming into the UB1 board from the GF1 board and it was a steady 12.4, which I thought was a good sign it is not a power supply issue.

Next I tested the UB1 board and the power on this board was surging in the same way peaking and dropping back down to zero. When I would disconnect the LVDS cables the surging stopped, on both of the boards so I tested the power on the FB1 board and it was steady as well.

Any ideas????? Im thinking t-con is bad, but would like to know before I drop some big bones on it to find out its the UB1 board which is easy to find and cheap.

    Thanks!

    Tony

Is the fuse open, if it it is, put the meter in DC A mode then put the meter probes on the fuse to check the current draw, it should be around 2~3A DC. I will not do it too long since if there is shorted circuit on the T-CON, you can take out the switched MOSFET on the main board which supplies the 12V to the T-CON.
You can also try disconnecting the ribbon cables between the LCD panel and the T-CON board to see if the voltage will become steady.

When you say main board are talking about the power supply or the AU board?

      Thanks for your help!

The board where the cable from the T-CON is connected to.

I've run into a ticking tcon board on a samsung un326000 . I replaced it after not finding the cause and all was well.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Sony 8K XBR-75Z8H White Screen Vertical Bars Tcon Code. Help Needed🙏
            by Daren87
            Hello everyone,

I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the...

Sony KD-70X690E Bravia; Bad TCON? Bad panel?
            by swrb898
What's wrong with my TV: the TCON, the panel, or something else? I'm stuck.

            Problem:

Last week, my Sony KD-70X690E 70" stopped displaying a picture. The TV powers on, and the back lights power on. However, the TV doesn't seem to boot up. I say this because the SONY splash-screen logo does not display, nor does any picture display, nor can I invoke a menu by pressing "Menu" on the remote. Other than back-light bleed, the screen is black.

My troubleshooting got me this far:

With the left-hand TCON to bottom-board ribbon cable...

Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 that will not power on
            by PopsCaps
I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 that will not power on. The indicator flashes red 3 times.
I do not hear any sound and I cannot see any backlight.
I have tried disconnecting every cable on each board one at a time to see if anything changes.
The only change is when I disconnect AC-DET cable on the Power Supply board or on the other end if I unplug the CN7009 connection on the B-Board and try to power on the TV the indicator will stay on solid green until I power off.
My friend ordered another used power supply board but it is also doing the red indicator flash 3 times...

            Sony KD-55X9000F TCON Issue
            by thelankanguy
The TV shows a black screen with no image.
TCON ribbon connectors were disconnected individually for image and there was no half image even.
Later both ribbons were disconnected and TCON voltages were tested.
12V, 3.3V, 1.8V were seen present but VONE signal reads 0V.
There is also a short to ground in this circled inductor.
Is this a TCON issue or something else ?...

            Sony KD-55AG9 TCON?
            by bbrain
            Hi,

I have this problem with my Sony 55' AG9.
            It flashes 4x.
I have found the service manual, and seems it is the TCON.

Before I buy a TCON can someone check the vid?

            Thanks in advance!...
