Remove that blown cap and then check the resistance between those two pads where the blown cap legs were connected to. TV unplugged of course.

Sorry, I was on vacation trying to enjoy whatever summer is left... I replaced the capacitor, thinking that might fix it, but the tv still does not turn on. Is there anything else I can check without removing the capacitor again?

Well? I do not like to repeat the request and instructions.

I have the same tv model # E3D420FX The set is completely dead. It has power supply voltages of 5volts and 12 volts but no other voltages. No Vizio logo light, No standby power light. I am thinking it is a main board issue and would love to know the fix at a component level. The tv is completely non responsive to the remote. Please help

I removed the capacitor and tried to measure the resistance, but it just reads zero. I'm not using a professional multimeter, but I tried it on other things and does read somewhat correct.

So the resistance reading between the two pads where the capacitor was connected to show ZERO Ohm?

I apologize, it is reading open circuit. No number comes up.

Re: Vizio E3D420vx No Standy Power. Why?

Hi! I have a symptom in Vizio E3D420VX TV
                    1. Press power button, power white light on and Vizio V logo is on the screen
                    2. Logo goes off, power white light blink one time.
                    3. Power goes off by itself and doesn't come up
                    4. Same symptom in every time when I press power button.

Is it an exactly same symptom as you?
Can it be solved by replacing the power board?

This model is known for main board going bad. Components to check on main board are as follows.
                      UP2
                      UP13
                      FP1
                      FP2

                        Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Vizio E550i-A0 no power, no standby light
                        by x_orange90_x
I have a Vizio E550i-A0 that will not power on. It also does not display the standby light in the corner. I disconnected the main board cable to see if the backlights would light but they did not (maybe this is normal for this set?). I checked the voltages on the plug and they all read in mV or 0, so there's no voltage there. The fuses are ok, and the voltages of the 450v caps read about 160v. I see no visual damage on either the power supply or main board. I have read online that the main board is usually the culprit in this model, but not getting backlights with the main disconnected makes me...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                        by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                        Assuming...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                        by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

Sony Bravia XBR-65x900f: No Power, No Standby-light - however 3.3v STBY is present
                        by SkishyIshy
                        Hey All,

                        I have a Sony 65x900f that I purchased cheap because of a no-power issue.
I assumed that because there is no standby light visible, it would be an easy fix - however upon opening up of the unit I can confirm that the 3v3 standby voltage is making it's way from the power supply to the main board. I'm a little confused as to why there is no standby light.

I am firstly wondering if anyone has this model of TV, or has worked on one and can give me some insight. I have tried to find a service manual for this model, to no avail - and would really appreciate...
