ok,you dont have a short then,i thought you had meter set to 200 if that were the case 1.78ohm would be bad,but 1.780 kohm or mohm is good!

that indicates "open circuit" which means no short on that rail.


do this same test on all the rails(pins) except ground pins,with nothing connected ,take the psu out and away.

you want to be seeing "1"on your meter or a high kohm reading,i suggest you do this twice,,once set to 200, the next set to k hohm on your meter,just so you get my drift of what i mean.

esr test all the caps around those connectors,and there are 2 also by the black heatsink,just to the right,known these to fail.

just out of curiosity i have a 17pw15-6 psu they look very similar would it work ?

it could,there are variations though,take care though,some have a standby voltage of 3.3v others have 5v,

do you think its worth a try, looks identical all caps look same value, looks like they have same repair kits to

try it,you never know.

also,try heating the output caps,and the 2 i showed you earlier with a hairdrier,this will reduce ESR and get them working on a temp basis,if they are faulty,and not too far gone.

i did replace a few caps last nite, i took them apart and they seemed very dry on the inside. will try this psu i have, will give it a bash now

replace with what series and brand?they need to be low esr.

SD cd263b 16v 1000uf caps. that psu will not fit missing a connection block
