I do have a capacitence tester...and a hair drier lol, but its hard to pin point as it sometimes works strait away. Would a cap problem cause screen distortation? Last time it cam on with bit of yellow distortation allomg the screen. Its fine this time though
yes caps could cause that,if a cap supplying the tcon rail is failing then voltage would drop.

its the psu, heat all the caps ,and monitor if the fault happens again,if the caps are failing it may bring them back just enough to work.

id still esr them after though
fixed so far...376 lg lcd tv's,24 onn tv;s,24 panasonic lcd,16 jvc lcd,12 marshall jcm800 amps, refurb of various disco equipment lighting, old style disco decks ,and a flymo!

Even though those caps look good,--and marked with a pen (They all are in every one Ive seen!)
--The fault you describe sounds exactly like iffy old caps on the supply-rails to me...

The 1000uF 35V and the larger 25V caps are usually the cause....

Hi all again, looks like anotherdude was right. Before any testing i heated the psu.the tv didnt come on. I then heated the mainboard near the shielded are.turned on 1st time and is still on.looks like failing mounted caps on the main board. So...loks like i need another main board!
Ill oreder one and hopefully that will be the end of the matter.

Caps.on these mainboards come from different manufacturing facilities I notice.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Its the small mounted caps that are gone by the looks of it, i dont think maplins have these in stock?
Can they be replaced by normal caps with the same uf?

Yes, but do not use capacitors from maplins. Order them from CPC (free postage, no minimum order - you cannot go wrong) - and also, use Panasonic FM/FR/FC where possible. CPC also stock some smd caps but not many.

Help Needed: Samsung UE55MU8000 Dead - Possible Main Board Issue
                        by Asraf Atb
                        Hi everyone,

Im looking for some advice regarding my Samsung UE55MU8000 TV with main board model BN94-11606C. The TV suddenly stopped turning on and now shows no signs of life at all not even the standby light at the bottom.

Initially, I suspected an issue with the PSU, so I took it to a repair center. They tested it and confirmed that the PSU works perfectly, even on other TVs. Based on that, I started investigating the main board.

I disconnected the main board from the PSU, and the backlight turned on, which seems to confirm the main board is the issue....

Sceptre U550CV-UMR 4K LED, Bad Caps on Main Power Board?
                        by Dani_2024
Hi and thanks in advance for any input you might provide!
I have a Sceptre U550CV-UMRD8POTV83BB 4K LED (this is a dumb tv) that I bought new in August 2021, so It's just completed 3 years.

Last Sunday I was watching a dvd and fell asleep for about half hour, when I awoke the tv screen was black and couldn't get the dvd menu to show, so I changed the input to antenna and had sound but no picture, turned it off. I then got online and found this great site! ....read many troubleshooting tips and this...

                        Samsung UN75RU8000FXZA bad main board?

When plugged in it will click and cycle the BL on and off, no pic and does not respond to remote. When I disconnect the cable from the PS board to the main board and then plug it in the BL will come on and stay on. There are only two boards in this set, the LVDS cables from the panel driver boards connect directly to the main board. Since the BL comes on and stays on I'm thinking the PS board is ok and the problem is on the main board. Should I order another main board or do I need to do more testing? thanks, Lee

(SOLVED) - ONN 100012588 No Power, Then Rebooting After Main Board Change

Issue: No Power, Then Rebooting After Main Board Change

Short answer: replace main board and power board
Technical answer: replace main board and Q306 & Q307 on power board.

                        Long answer:

TV wouldn't turn on. Power switch was fine which means the main board isn't processing the power on signal. Replaced main board. TV turns on now but randomly reboots. Bad main board? EEPROM? Tried to pull main board and got a shock touching the corner of the board. That's weird. C334 (450V 10uf) capacitor is still holding a high charge....

Is it possible to upgrade from a Vestel 17MB97 main board to a 17MB110 Main board?
                        by cheeky2
I suppose the real question is whether the existing pinouts from ether a 17IPS71 psu are cross compatible with a 17IPS12 psu? If they are then the exchange of the main boards should have no issues providing the screen is compatible with both main boards. Obviously you can change the screen configurations easily enough (providing you have the correct files) for the main board. Why may you ask would I do this? Well a lot of the smart features are no longer working on a Hitachi 48HBT62U main board I wish to give it a new lease of life!
Obviously the same LVDS connector for the screen connection...
