Hi, just pickup a Sony LCD Bravia, plugged in and turn on, getting the 6 blinking lights which could indicate panel, inverter board issue. Measure on PS board, and only getting 60V AC instead of 120V coming in. Is that normal?

Re: Sony KDL-40XBR6
Not normal if you are testing correctly and your meter is ok
You must keep in mind we cant see what you are doing or what you are doing it on. Suggest you post good clear pictures - one of the rear of the set with back off and one of each board. Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Re: Sony KDL-40XBR6
Both reading on the power cord probe coming into the PS and also the fuse that is next to it is giving me a 60V AC reading. I suspect it to be the PS board or the inverter. Without enough voltage coming out of my PS, it that why the inverter and backlight does not want to kick on?Comment

Re: Sony KDL-40XBR6
If you are measuring live to chassis, 60V is expected for singly isolated (non earthed) equipment. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Sony KDL-40XBR6
OK..that's what I did. So, that is normal. So, when I probe into the main, now I'm getting the 120V (+- 10V) so power coming in is normal. Now when I probe my fuse next to it from both end, getting down to a 0 reading. But when I ground my black lead to chasis, getting 60V. Any thoughts?Comment

That main AC fuse must be good, otherwise you will not be seeing the 6-blink error code.Never stop learning

Re: Sony KDL-40XBR6
What worries me is that if you do not know if a fuse is good or not how do you expect to repair a TV? Are you aware that heatsinks can carry a voltage that will give you a good kick and that could knock you onto some other parts that can kill?

Re: Sony KDL-40XBR6
Disconnect the T-con board from the pannel boards. Pannel boards are likely located under a metal shield at the top of the TV. The T-con is also under a metal shield - the one right above the power supply board at the center of the TV.
After this, try to power on the TV and see if it turns on (NOTE: you won't see any picture, but look for a green light on the front of the TV) or if error code changes.Comment

by PopsCapsI have a Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 that will not power on. The indicator flashes red 3 times.
I do not hear any sound and I cannot see any backlight.
I have tried disconnecting every cable on each board one at a time to see if anything changes.
The only change is when I disconnect AC-DET cable on the Power Supply board or on the other end if I unplug the CN7009 connection on the B-Board and try to power on the TV the indicator will stay on solid green until I power off.
My friend ordered another used power supply board but it is also doing the red indicator flash 3 times... -

by KYBOSHPrevious owner said TV just went blank one day.
They attempted to open the back panel and yanked the power connector off the power supply in the meantime.
Easily fixed that and got the TV to turn on. Backlights come one with everything connected. Good Sign.
The mainboard shows signs of life (red light on digital audio out is on) but that's about it. Good Sign.
There is not blinking LED and the most importantly there is LED response and sound when I press the MENU button on remote control. GREAT Sign.
I just downloaded the Sony KD-75X7800F Service Manual and... - Loading...
