That's only cause of image retention from what the other board did. Panasonic plasmas are very temperament with image retention. It will go away when you get the tv working. Trust me. Hold down vol- on tv while pressing info 3 times.on remote. Get a service menu on the screen?
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Just out of curiosity, all the boards that have been replaced, they were replaced with the exact same board revisions?

maybe someone can confirm that , I can't but I am wondering. I know someone here in Aust had an issue getting a TV of the same era working here because of firmware issues and not getting the same revision.

At a glance the 60U and 600U boards are definitely different if what I am seeing is correct.

              Part numbers TNPA3903BBS = 60U, TNPA3903BES = 600U

IC4020 missing on the 60U along with a number of other parts near there.

              These are some firmware comparisons

              DG board

              IC1101
              60U , TVRN840S
              600U, TVRN842S

              IC1102
              60U, TVRN845S
              600U, TVRN848S

              DG-board , IC4022 & IC4023 are the same firmware for both

DT-board, IC8222 missing from 60U DT board but on the 600U it looks like this goes back to the DG22 but you have a the 60U DG installed so ?

              D-board, IC9001,IC9003, IC9007, IC9303 are the same

I'm not going to pretend to say i understand how this all interacts but a different DG board does throw in an unknown variable into the fault finding and it is clearly different in the cct.

Hopefully someone out there has greater knowledge on whether this will be an issue or not.

This is the post I was thinking of but the symptoms don't match what's happening with yours but an example of using a similar Dg board but with different firmware.

I may be throwing you off track but worth considering.

Hmmm, I missed this. Obviously you've tried the 60U DG I gather?

I now have the 600u dg back in no picture light on all screen. So will the solution be to get a replacement 600u board identical or could it be something else?
Iwas so looking forward to a picture with the dg board!!

I'd wait and see if he confirms whether he's tried it before. He probably has. Most of the panasonics I've touched have been the newer ones where all these boards were combined into the single A board which makes it much easier to fault find.

The board you got may even be faulty? But I only put all that up because I saw it was different. Having read what freakaftr8 wrote I probably would have left it alone as I myself do not know for sure nor do I know if the replacement DG is the cause of the new symptoms.

I was looking for something possibly missed, board revisions came to mind.

well if I were you I would definitely return that board as there's something not right about it the white bars on the right and left side to me would indicate that the board format is set in a different frame rate like 4:3 letter box mod of some type. I'm just stating from my previous repair the TV that I worked on for somebody that I was able to replace the board with a different revision and it worked my TV however the 20 blinks and it would freeze up and wouldn't respond to the remote at the same time maybe the boards bad maybe not maybe you have something going on with power supply voltages or the logic board. I'm not sure but definitely return The DG board if you can and get the proper revision board just to be certain.

At least all those can be ruled out.
on a side note the TV will still operate with the DT board removed you just will not have any analog tuner. for me not having the analog bored in place was easier for me to freeze spray and heat the main board underneath it to find the problem
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

I feel like an idiot. Here was my initial issue and posting on it. I apologize it was so long ago my TV was that 500u not the 600 but same scenario I replaced it DT board finally cured the problem.

                              sorry for the inconvenience

I have a problem with my Panasonic TX-P42S20E. On 576i and 1080i There is a half vision on panel. Up side is ok but, down side is black or coloured. When i change the aspect ratio, problem is not solved. But when i change to 1080p or 720p, all panel is correctly working.
Some servives tells its a main board problem, but i downloaded the service manual of my model, it tells this problem can be because of some cards failure.(SC,SS,SS2,A,C1,C2 boards) Please let me know you lived a problem like this and how you solved. If you want i can send a photo

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
