    insignia ns-32lcd

Hi I have an insignia ns-32lcd with no picture or sound when it is plugged in only the red standby led blinks and will not change even with the power button pressed. Power supply voltages are correct when board c is disconnected (pics below) but when it is connected the 24v output fluctuates from 24 down to about 9 and back up again in sync with the standby light. I know the power supply is good since I know a friend with the same tv and I tested with that, still the same problem. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Wish I could help you. I have the same tv with a blown 18N50. Mine is definitely the psu but yours seem to be more in depth of a trouble.

Actually you could have a psu problem. You have power hooked up with no draw and the voltages are correct. But once a draw is on it drops. You could have a bad cap not holding the charge. Look at your caps. I would replace all of them. My 18N50 is completely shorted and it blows the fuse so I have to replace it.

Thanks for your response! Thats what I thought at first and replaced all the caps, but the problem was still there so i borrowed a friend's tv's psu and it did the same thing so i'm thinking the main board could have a problem with how its activating the primary on the psu since without it plugged in the 24v pins are 0 and with it they go from 24 down to 9 whenever the standby light blinks and back up to 24. Any other ideas would be much appreciated since i've got no clue what could be bad specifically.

OK, that large black main filter cap, measure the voltage RIGHT AT THE TWO LEGS of the cap, it should go up from 170V to around 370~400VDC when power switch is activated (PS_ON signal from the main board will turn on the PFC Voltage booster and the 24vdc power supply).

Alright the large filter cap reads 290v before and after the on button is pressed and fluctuates down to about 275v in sync with the 24v fluctuations. It seems like it ignores the power button completely. Without any board plugged into the psu the large cap reads 170v.

Sounds like you have a PFC circuit fault, the most likely suspect would be the 450V capacitor.

so your freinds psu is working in his set ok? but when you put his working psu into your set it plays up just like your own psu does.

In response to vinceroger yes, so i'm pretty sure it isn't the psu being the problem especially since it works like its supposed to (to my knowledge) without the main board plugged in. Since the on button and remote seem to do nothing could it be a problem with the main board?

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                        by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

UN65MU6300FXZC, no standby LED but power supply good. Bad IC1604 25Q40?
                        by Yanleb
                        Hi all,

My UN65MU6300FXZC is dead and the standby LED stays off. The power supply is good. The main board is BN94-12434A.

Disconnecting the main board from the power supply makes the backlight come ON.

I did disconnect the panel cables and the WIFI modules, the board is still dead.

I did read in many posts that IC1604 25Q40 becomes corrupted. It has proper 3.3 volt on VCC pin 8. I did read that if I post its dump here someone can fix it. Is that right?

                        Thanks.

JSK4228-050 Power Supply Standby voltage changing! (Possible from Wharfedale LTF37K1)

                        Hello,

I am trying to re-purpose this power supply that I saved years ago from a tv with a cracked screen for a monitor but that is not really that relevent at the moment. I do not recall which tv but a google search looks like it is from Wharfedale LTF37K1.

You may notice I made some alterations moving some components to the top and some wires which are from a 5v regulator I fitted to the 12v output as the monitor requires 5v. The standby was already at fault from the beginning, it has nothing to do with the alterations...

Years ago it had some bulging caps...

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply
                        by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                        by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                        Assuming...
