I finally pulled a bad IPM off a vizio p50hdtv10a y sustain without destroying the board. Anyone know the sequence to test it? It does not have any identification numbers on it anywhere.
Proper way to test IPM??

Re: Proper way to test IPM??
This looks like your IPM: (This is from their blog)
http://blog.coppelltvrepair.com/2010...71qyh039a.html
You will make 3 tests on each IC.
If any of them results in continuous beep and reading of “0” (or the same reading on the display as you get when you touch the two probes of the meter and hear beep) then the IC is bad.
You will be testing:
1) VS to GND
2) VS to SUS_O
3) GND to SUS_O
Each of the contacts (VS, GND and SUS_O) has multiple pins on the IC, i.e. all pins in the group are the same and it does not matter which one you will try on. -
Re: Proper way to test IPM??
Well according to this test, this IPM is good, I get no beeps on any of the pins. The tv was flashing white and clicking sound coming from what seemed to be this ipm. I cant imagine it being the upper IPM, other forums say its rare for the "er" ipm to fail.Comment

by chth96Hello
I have power adaptor(220V/input, 12V 1.2A/output) which has symptom of fluctuating output DC voltage between 11.5V-12.2V.
So I opened its plastic case and when switched it on, I heard constant tik tik sound from inside its PCB.
I measured DC voltage between negative and positive pin of the largest capacitor(400v 10uf) and it was measured contant 300V.
I also measured ESR value of all capacitors and I noticed that one of capacitor(KMG 16v 470uf), which located in the secondary side, have high ESR value(10 ohm),So I replaced it with same specification NXH capacitor.... -
by khelaneHello
I have a big problem and that is that in some cases when repairing active pfc power supplies I cannot work with a test lamp. I can only get help with 5 volts standby and for starting and starting I have to work without a lamp and this way there is a possibility of parts exploding and other parts being added.
Sometimes with a multimeter test the problems can be reduced to some extent, but I had several cases that had to be tested on and online and recently two varistors exploded. They had terrible resistance because the power supplies were over 800 watts.
Is there a way... -
by chronic519Hello.
GPU came in, green lines. Spent lots of time using to get the Mats / mods drive working (found on youtube).
Found issue with a RAM block
Replaced, green lines gone.
Trying to test again, assuming getting the false positive. Originally had over 1K on a single bank. Now getting tosses low between banks.
Used a good card to test and same results low errors 32+.
I am just search for some form of command to do a full test on the GPU.
I just ran the mats command with my good GPU and passed after roughly 40 min.
The repaired one, ran... -
by alltvrepairsHi,
i have a 65 Panasonic TX-65HX710E using vestel 17MB170 main and Lg tcon.
Few drops of water fell probably near COF and have no display. Tried removing tabs but no.part of display present as if tcon fuse open. However 12v is present and tcon can be felt warm enough that supplies are present. Backlight and sound ok.
Anyone knows if this TCon 6870c-0805A has any special test pins for rgb test?
Appreciate your help....2 Photos -
by R7027In the service manual for Galaxy S7 (SM-G930F), step number four in the flow chart for troubleshooting power-on issue is to check the voltage level of a "signal".
I had a very hard time locating this. I didn't understand what it means to check for voltage of something by its signal name, and it's location was not described in the service manual (not that I could see in my four chapter excerpt of the complete manual). Then I learned that this signal name needs to be translated into a test point (TP) ID on the board. This is unlikely to be referenced in a service... - Loading...
