My big question is are the 2 small boards on the top of the tv tcon boards? If not what are they? And if not is the Tcon under the metal shroud

Im starting to think this main board is also the tcon board? someone please verify. I also have taken pictures of the front and the back of this main board. I have searched it pretty good and I cant find any component labeled F for fuse.

I am thinking the main board may be set for a 720p LCD panel. Can you see any model # on it? Also try inputs and menus to see what they look like.

Do you know if the main board has ever been replaced in this model?
What does the TV look like if you press MENU on the remote?

I do not know about what has been replaced. All I know is when I took it apart the 2 ribbon cables were disconnected. So I don't know what was messed with.

I would suggest an incorrect main board has been ordered and would try asking the seller if they have the original, or buy a replacement but order using 42LD550.

So I just talked to the guy he said he took it to a tv shop. The charges him 50 to look at it. Than they said it needed a new main board and quoted him another 250 to fix it so he didn't. What do you think should I just buy a main board with the tv model number

I think Tom is on the right track, sounds like main board is not sync with the T-CON/PANEL. I never seen problem like this before, will be great to know the result.

Ok wanted to update after researching for a few weeks I learned that the main board was correct by contacting lg. I finally found one on eBay and just replaced it. Works perfect! Thank you guys for all the help. If any one wants the old board just for some diagnosing i would be glad to send it to you just pay real shipping cost. Thanks again guys

Does hash move around? If yes its the main, Do you get osd menu. Both of these would prove the tcon and screen ok.

Glad to hear it's working. Maybe internal setting just got corrupted.
