47 in lcd menus don't look right

    i have a 47inch baird lcd with a cv109h mainboard and a lg philips LC470WUN panel.

i've replaced 5 bulging caps in the psu to get the set working. but the menu looks blurred, it's like every other row of pixels is swapped round.
i think the tv has this effect also but its hard to see.

i've accessed the service menu, but nothing seems to correct this.

in the service menu there is ssc adjust, ssc mu on/off, ssc lvds on/off, lcds span (350), lvds step (200). none of these setting seem to make any difference.

could it be a faulty t con?

    thanks

The image looks to have this effect too. I would be surprised if the t-con caused this, but a loose LVDS cable could cause this problem. Also check LVDS mode in service menu, etc. If all else fails, the flash chip (incorrectly called EEPROM) could be the cause of this.

Re: 47 in lcd menus don't look right

ive had the t con out and i think its the wrong one for the panel.
the panel is actually a LC470WUE, (LC470WUN was also fitted to this model)
the tcon has been changed, as it has a handwritten sticker on with the tv model no.
      but the tcon says LC470WUN.

i've found a new one on ebay, which is for an LC470WUE

      however it says LC470WUE (SD)(P1)

my panel is LC470WUE (SB) (B1)

      close enough?

Are the T-con boards substantially different?

No real difference in these T-cons

i don't know, it seemed like it might be the cause, but i found one on ebay listed as suitable for both panels (from an experienced seller who i think must know), so it comes back to some other problem or a possible faulty tcon. the main board is the right one for the panel as it has the matching sticker on it. the cable looks ok. there's nothing else i can change in the menu. possible faulty flash chip on the main board? is that the big square one with the heat sink on it?

Confirmed that the 2 t-cons will make no difference, I have a WUN panel here fitted with a WUE T-con

Re: 47 in lcd menus don't look right

Could also be bad RAM - a missing bit in the address for it would cause this (odd/even interlacing in video.) Though normally would not line up so well... If so a reflow would be a temporary cure (a reball is really the only permanent fix, most reflows do not last a month.)

Strange one, I think I have seen it before on a laptop, but I think that was just bad LVDS.

If you have a digital scope or a storage scope you could try sending patterns to the LCD which have slight differences to see what difference it might make in the LVDS signal coming out.

Hi with all Lg T-cons the silk screen board number just give you type not part number, on the board in the photo the part number is the one in red and reads 2803A, you need to check the part number for your set, look it up on shopjimmy

                      by NolesFan
Hello all... TV started boot looping. Opened the back panel and tried to isolate the problem. Just PSB no boot loop. PSB and MB no boot loop. Plug in the LVDS from panel to MB and boot looping starts up. It doesnt matter of order that I plug the LVDS ribbons back in, only 1 and no boot loop but as soon as 2nd one plugs in boot looping. I then noticed a flicker on the screen when I was closing the clip on the harness to the LVDS. Shut the lights off so I can see better, and I noticed as i slowly close it, I will get a picture, but as soon as it clips in, I lose picture and booting happens. So I...

                      Hello,

So I was referred here when I made this poste over on AVForums: https://www.avsforum.com/threads/loc...lg-tv.3257234/

To summarize, this is a commercial TV and I can't get a menu of any kind. I know the overlay is working because when I change channel, adjust volume, turn on sleep timer I do see text. But I have not ever seen the user menu nor the installers menu. I've tried a bunch of remotes(more info on the AVF post) and tried every button...

Philips 58PUS7805 Menu working but no/weird picture from video sources
                      by Ierwin
                      Hello everyone,

I got a 58pus7805 that shows some weird behavior.
The menu and remote work fine and the picture is looking crisp and flawless while navigating the menu.
However, when a video source is displayed the screen either goes solid green (HDMI), solid black (SAT TV) or shows some fragments on mostly green background (AVI Playback from USB).

I tried to reinstall the firmware through the menu which was rejected saying it already had the latest version.
I managed to install the latest official firmware by holding the control button while plugging...

                      Hi All,

Thanks for reading. Based on the interesting fact that the vertical lines issue don't seem to effect the menus whatsoever but rather everything around the menu regardless of video is shown, I'm trying to set mine whether the issue is the main board or the t-con board.

Again what's baffling is that the menu is not effected whatsoever. However, any other video displayed regardless of inputs or when no inputs exist exhibits the vertical lines and seem to effect black areas only.

The lines are green in color when the tv is in "Game Mode" and...
