TV Samsung UE55HU8500L (2014) – service menu + firmware reflashing advice needed

    Hi all,

I’m trying to recover a Samsung UE55HU8500L (curved UHD, 4K model from 2014) after replacing the panel. The new panel is a 55A1UU8EH, which produces excellent image quality — very close to the original.

However, since the swap, the TV enters a boot loop (Samsung logo → restart) unless I enter the service menu and perform a reset.

The service mode had been previously modified — possibly by a technician or during the panel swap — and I suspect some key settings are mismatched for the European (Greece) market.

    Additional issues:
    - The HDMI ports behave incorrectly: port order seems scrambled (e.g., HDMI 1 acts like HDMI 2)
    - No audio output over HDMI, even though video works

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
    - Adjusted Type, Local Set, Front Color, Panel Display Type, Model, Tuner, EDID Write, etc.
    - Compared values with other HU8500 units
    - Verified internal connections and performed factory resets

Despite this, I haven’t found the correct configuration that allows the TV to boot normally and restore full HDMI functionality. The image looks fine after reset, but the boot loop returns after power off.

📸 I can share screenshots of the current service menu settings if helpful.

👉 I’m specifically looking for the correct service menu values for this 2014 4K model in Europe/Greece, especially after a panel replacement with 55A1UU8EH. If anyone has experience with HU8500 servicing or knows the right configuration for this region, I’d be grateful for your help.

🛠️ As an alternative solution, I’m also exploring firmware engineering and reflashing. If I can reflash the firmware successfully, I may be able to reinstall the latest version (1410) cleanly and potentially resolve the boot/audio issues. If anyone has experience with reflashing on this series or knows whether this approach could help, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

    Thanks in advance!

Lotas there are codes for LG and Samsung, The Samsung ones enlarges some already big menus, Samsung menu has 3 level of menu access, the stanard one, the Advanced section with password and the full menu, he needs the full menu access to be able to give the write command next to panel type to enable it, this is what i remember..

I do not know why but the window with the panel type seems to lack some items, try to access the full menu by entering the service remote key, even by portable device + ir blaster + wav file (i have the files) , so you can unlock the panel type & front color write options..

Maybe the problem is the panel number, you write 55A1UU8EH but the data says 55A1UU9RH. The OCB sees a different panel than and maybe therefor the tv resets.

              Don't confuse LG with Samsung.

Why bother with such complications? There is a special remote control AA81-00243A, and it costs pennies.

It's up to the thread owner to decide, where is the problem? The less the items the less confusion and earth pollution

And before doing any manipulations in the service menu, you need to make a backup of the eeprom 24C256 (512), so that you can return everything to its original state, as it was initially, otherwise you can change something in the settings and after that the TV may not turn on at all.

                        You're right, William1967. You must have looked at the wrong panel in an internal menu;
that was from other tests. It's actually the first option, though of course, I don't know
if that one is correct either, but it's working well. Thank you very much for your help
                        with the issues I mentioned.

Hello Davi.p, thank you for the very quick response. Your information is extremely helpful!
Despite that, I'm lacking some technical knowledge—I'm not sure how to use the .wav files
you sent me. I will look into it, but even if I manage to access the deeper Service Menu,
I will still be missing the correct values to input. Regarding the Service Remote Control,
I will look into how I can purchase one. Thank you again for all your help. Kostas

Hello Lotas, your note and the hint with the image you sent really woke me up, because
I was taking that panel for granted and wasn't paying attention to the model listed there!
Also, the image of the remote control was very helpful. Thank you again. Kostas

Hello Diah, I will check Samy.go.tv and I hope to find something to save my old but really
very good TV. Thanks a lot, your help, like everyone else's, is invaluable

Not that difficult, you need a smartphone or tablet and a IR blaster, it's a simple 3,5mm mono or stereo plug with a resistor and a ir led, you can purchase it on eBay, it's 1-2 euro thing, or you can make it by yourself, it needs the stereo plug, an ir led taken from old useless remote commander, and a 100 ohm resistor, well i used a 20 ohm but it works only on my old phone, i don't know why, from tip ----resistor----anode---cathode----ring.. Put volume to maximum ad go close to the tv receiver, you need to be already in service mode, if you use stereo plug, join center ring to gnd ring, you have to play the wav file by a file manager like total commander for android..

                                            Hello,

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share a recent experience I had with a laptop that had a Type-C Port issue, specifically related to a PD (Power Delivery) controller problem. After replacing the damaged PD controller chip with a new one I purchased from AliExpress, the laptop now charges properly and negotiates power as expected, allowing the device to power up. I've replaced this chip twice just in case.

However, it seems that the laptop's BIOS is detecting an older version of the PD Firmware on the newly installed chip. As a result, it attempts...

Samsung UEMU6199U - no Standby - bad Firmware?
                                            by Mirenia
                                            Hi everyone,
I've got a Samsung UEMU6199U which has no Standby LED and no reaction if try turning it on.
Voltages on the power supply board is okay. Backlight test is also okay.

I read about a corrupt firmware on IC1604 on some models, did a dump of this IC and turns out: First sectors are empty.
So I think my TV has exactly this issue.

Can someone please fix the dump?

And how do you do that?

As I understand you fill in the empty sectors and leave the rest as it is. But where do you get the "information" of what you...
