    Vizio e550vl HDMI Problems

I have a Vizio e550vl that up until a few nights ago was working perfectly. Woke up one morning and when I turned it on it was showing no signal on the screen. It is plugged into a surge protector, there were no electrical storms in the area when the problem occured either.
It is connected to a Direct TV HD DVR, a Blu-ray and an audio receiver. Tried resetting the DVR numerous times to no avail, tried the Blu-ray which would not play thru the HDMI either. Swapped HDMI cables around with known good cables, swapped ports, turned TV on and off numerous times and finally the picture came back on the TV. Would only work on the top HDMI port on the back. Hooked Blu-ray up thru the AV cables and that worked also.
Next day same thing, turned TV on showing no signal. Turned TV on and off. reset DVR and now it is working thru the HDMI port on the side of the TV but not the back. Also Direct TV has free channels available thru Dec. 1st and if I try to view them I get the following message, " Your TV does not support this programs content protection. Replacing the TV's HDMI cable with component cables will allow you to view the program".
Could it be something as easy as replacing a board? I have not had the back cover off of it yet either.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Re: Vizio e550vl HDMI Problems

Any suggestions on this? None of the HDMI's are working now. Have the Direct TV HD DVR hooked up thru the A/V cables now and TV is working fine except for the fact it is in 480p.

This TV has 3 HDMI ports, from what I seen on another thread these are basically routed thru one processor. Before I spend the money on a board has anyone else experienced this problem?

Vizios are known for bad voltage regulators on the main board, I suggest testing those first before considering buying a new board.

            Re: Vizio e550vl HDMI Problems

Did the factory reset a couple times, what started out as an intermittent problem with the HDMI seems to be permanent now. Have it hooked up thru the AV cables until I get time to open it up.

              Re: Vizio e550vl HDMI Problems

Took the back off today, nothing obvious sticking out. The part # on the board is 3655-0152-0150 (4A) other numbers are OKM502A4V01904A AND CSD:3655-0152-0395. I found a board with part# 3655-0152-0150 (4G). Does anyone know if the (4G) is just a revision and will it work as a replacement to the (4A)?

take a picture of the HDMI area. Plug in a HDMI cable with a live signal and power on the TV and check the HDMI IC chip for overheating.

Opened it up and took a couple pictures then closed it back up to watch the football games thru the AV cables. Could not see anything obvious around the chip. Lifted the board and looked at the back and the board looked good.

                    Re: Vizio e550vl HDMI Problems

I took a chance and bought another main board part #3655-0152-0150 (4G), the board in my TV is a 3655-0152-0150 (4A). With the original board installed as soon as I plug the power cord in you can here a click on the power board, the TV will power on and everything works except the HDMI.

With #3655-0152-0150 (4G) installed there is no click on the power board, the VIZIO light on the front of the screen does go to orange but the TV will not power on.

I thought I may have made a bad connection with the ribbon cables or the other connectors on the board so I swapped the boards back and forth a few times with the same results.

Boards look exactly the same except for the (4A) vs (4G) designation at the end of the part number. Does anyone know if the revision is that critical to the TV powering on and working or am I missing something obvious?

                        Try a firmware update/reapply.

Try unhook everything except dvd player, see if it works thru hdmi, taking direct tv out of equation.

Marantz SR4003 AVR HDMI board issue, seeking for help
                            by aliougm
I have problem with my AVR(Marantz SR4003) HDMI board issue. I connect to my TV but screen color distorted, see attached picture.

                            Connection as below:
                            Set-top box HDMI output >AVR 3 HDMI input/one HDMI output>HDTV HDMI port
If I bypassed AVR then HDTV screen color be good.

I take out HDMI board from AVR and check services manual the schematic shown the HDMI signals path:
                            3 HDMI input port > SIL9185 chip(HDMI switch) > SIL9033 chip(HDMI receiver) > SIL9030 chip(HDMI transmitter) > HDMI output port

                            I replaced all...

Certain DisplayPort-HDMI cables can disable HDMI CEC communication

With a setup including a TV and AV receiver where HDMI Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) and Audio Return Channel (ARC) functions were working, these two functions stopped working after changing some connections (not the one between the AV receiver and TV), so I believed it was a corrupt setting in the AV receiver or TV, but when I disconnected a passive DisplayPort-HDMI cable (which a Multimode DisplayPort connector supports HDMI with a low cost passive cable or adaptor) connected to a home theatre PC, HDMI CEC and ARC functionality was restored.

                            Toshiba 50UL2063DB randomly rebooting with HDMI-CEC and/or HDMI-ARC enabled
                            by spleenharvester
I have this TV hooked up to only an AppleTV 4K and a Creative soundbar. Originally HDMI-CEC and HDMI-ARC wouldn't work at all, I replaced all the HDMI cables with decent UGREEN cables meeting the latest standards, now it all works perfectly but once or twice a day the TV itself reboots while watching a program, the AppleTV keeps running. I haven't fully pinned down whether it is ARC or CEC causing it yet. All are running latest firmware.

I assume it is just HDMI-CEC being buggy as usual on a shitty Vestel machine, but can anyone think of anything I can try before disabling it?
