That is very expensive, not much you can do until the price starts coming down which I think it will due to many people will be buying new TV this month.

        Re: Vizio E550VL

Budm, I am trying to locate a thread you did sometime ago that explains the light bulb useage for power supply testing where the fuse blows repeatdly. Specifically, I am looking for the instructions on how to create it, and also, what would I see in terms of the bulb lighting/not lighting when testing the PSU?

Any help would be much appreciated.
        Thanks
        Joe

Hi budm, Have you read or seen any posts mentioning repairing the dead HDMI inputs on the E550VL Vizio? Do I need to do anything about closing this thread?

              Re: Vizio E550VL

Hi and thanks again budm, I ordered a Main Board from Sears Parts. They give a one year guarantee and free shipping for orders over $150.00. No core charge so the partially working old board is here for next time. The board was $135.67 so I bought a drill set they had on special that the order taker sugested for $14.99 to get the free shipping so I will have some drills left over along with my dud board if we ever figure out how to fix the HDMI inputs...geraposi

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                Assuming...

                by mrtek
                Hi.

picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED...

                Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

                Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

Vizio SmartCast TV software bug that looks like hardware
                by howardc64
Bug looks like hardware so thought I posted it here. Exact same behavior on 2 different model 4K Vizio TVs running their SmartCast smarttv software. After launching youtube app, press vizio button on remote to return to the smarttv menu, once in awhile, a column of bad pixels will show for few seconds on the left hand side.

It seems the vizio software is reinitializing hardware when returning to the smarttv menu. In general, SmartCast software isn't very good. Also will randomly (relatively infrequent) get no network connection when on wifi and require reboot....
