I think Tom is asking if you can see the slight glow on the screen when you look at it in the dark room, if the backlights are working, then the next place to check will be the fuse and the voltahe on the T-CON board. The screen looks like it has integrated T-CON type.

ok just turned the lights out and turned it on theres no visible change one thing I did notice is theres a blue led at the top right of the back of TV that comes on a few seconds after it's turned on which stays on for a few seconds then goes off (this may be nothing but thought worth mentioning)

so could be the power supply not powering the backlight?

ok not sure if i'm on the right track here but from similar looking laptop screens i gather the 2 pin connectors at the top right of the PSU power the backlight, turned the tv on and measured the output neither of them output anything over 0.33v

now i'm not sure if this is correct as theres no backlight connected but assumed the backlight would need more than this to power up

Careful around back-light voltages.. Inverters are high voltage and can give a nasty shock and blow your diagnostic equipment.

Can you take some pics of the boards connectors close up

hope these are ok, there should be a output though shouldnt there over 0.33v?

if i shine a light through the front of the screen with the menu on or whatever should i still be able to see the image even though the light is coming from the front, just to rule out a dead screen?

Do you see a pin marked BL ON or ON/OFF?
A dead screen would not cause loss of backlight.

I don't see it as far as i can see anyway

i found this thread with the same issue and the same power supply so assuming it's just a rebadge like most

                      https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...0&postcount=16

From reading about other backlight issues seems it's a inverter issue, but i don't see that board anyway or as a seperate unless it's under the white back but i don't see any cables leading to it from top side or is the inverter built in to the psu on these models?

anyone able to give any direction on where to go from here, testing the backlights or finding out if the image is displayed on screen?

Your inverter is built into your PSU.

See the ribbon cable in your last pic that folds over into the panel? Follow that and locate the tcon... look on the board for a component label with the start being F.. so F23 / 3A or something similar... test that fuse with your multimeter

Also shine a flashlight into the screen in a dark room with an input plugged in.... sky, pc etc .... see if you can see an image

ok i don't see anything on the t-con like that but noticed it seems like a LG panel

got a torch on the backside of the screen undeneath and can now see the no signal message bouncing round the screen as I did not connect a device, so safe to assume it is a backlight issue?

i know it's pretty common for backlights to die as i see no damage at all psu side, is there a way i can unplug the backlights and power them manually to test them? but then again when i measured the pin output from where the backlight connects theres only 0.33v coming from it which i'd assume is not enough

PSU isn't telling the backlights to start....

we need to find which pin of the connector is BL-ON, Can you check around the connectors for any writing like 24v, bl-on, gnd etc... if not try looking on the foil side of the PSU instead

                                  Indeed.

Check that pin for DC when turning the tv on and watch the readings...

ok i used the chassis as ground set the meter into the 200v range and measured at turn on, the reading was 0.00 when turning on and while on both pins next to it measure 0.41

does it matter i'm using a cheapo MM
