    Samsung PS50C96HD No Picture

    hi guys

ive got the above mentioned tv

and its got a damaged upper buffer board

and my guess is it have taken out the Y-main as well

as only one heatsink on there heats up instead of all 3

well anyway ive sourced a place that repairs the parts or exchanges them with good parts and offers a year warranty on them

    the question is as follows

what caused the buffer board to go bad ??

    is the panel shot ??

or was it just the Y-main went bad and took the buffer board with it

thanks for any help as im new to fixing TV's so have little knowledge on plasma repairs

    thanks for any help

    Re: Samsung PS50C96HD No Picture

It's a common issue on these sets, for some reason the upper buffer board chip fails and takes the Y-main with it. Replace that and the Y-main usually fixes it. The temperature of the heatsinks is of no concern.

Don't expect the picture to blow you away, but it's not too bad (if the PS-42C96HD is anything to go on, a similar model.)

            well tom66

got the boards and now all seems to be ok working with no issues

any ideas if a dodgy cap would cause the Y-main to go bad ??

ive found one so far that's buldging

was going to try and repair the Y-main and keep it as a spare

also ive attached some pics of the damaged buffer board

Common problem with the Y-sustain board, A few MOSFETS under the bottom right heatsink has shorted. (Looking at the first photo) Looks like the TV must have been heavily used and for awhile (typically years?) causing that bad cap.

Usually replacing those shorted mosfets and the failed buffer IC will usually fix the problem. (some resistors near the mosfet could possibly be bad also but not so common).

hi glitcher thanks for the reply

the tv is a 2008 plasma so says it all really and its used for movies and gaming a lot so I guess that would make a lot of usage on there

ill check the mosfets under the bottom right heatsink and find the bad ones and try and get replacement if not ill just bin it as I picked up replacement boards today and all is well with the tv for now

I'm in the same boat but a capacitor blew on the Power supply. Can't give you any more information than that. Is it likely that the power supply has killed other boards as well?

I was going to buy a replacement PSU but if there's a high risk of one of the other boards gone as well I don't think I'll bother.

                  Cheers!

hi dhicks001 if the psu has a bad capacitor its not likely it has taken out any other boards but if you can replace the capacitor normally fixes the problem and saves a bit of cash

If you look at the boards they will have a part number - google that and it will tell you which board it is?

                          by TR103
                          Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
                          - sound and backlight, but no picture
                          - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
                          - it keeps rebooting
                          - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
                          - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
                          - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

                          - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

                          by JJAAMM
This was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.

                          Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode...

                          by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

                          Hello all,

This is my first post, but long term lurker on the form learning as much as possible about these TV's. I was given this TV as due to a power outage of constant On/off of power to TV. The TV originally would just click on and off (Typical Reboot Cycle). I opened the back of the TV, and troubleshooted by taking the 96 pin LVDS off one at a time to see if I had a picture on either side. I finally fixed the reboot cycle by finding the error on the left side of the screen off connector CN 1301, and the TV would stay on. Further troubleshooting led me to the driver boards where...
