Help with inverter board - pics attached

    Hello all,

First of all I want say thank you to all of you because I have learned a lot from it. I am a newbie trying to fix his TV.

I have a 42" Digital Lifestyle TV that after just watching a movie the screen when black. The external power LED turns green and stays green. And I can hear the turning in on clicking sound. So my conclusion by reading this forum was to check the inverter boards. And as expected, the capacitors on each inverter board (master and slave) are bulged.

Anyways, I have ordered the new capacitors and I am just waiting for them so I can replace them. However while I was disconnecting the cables from the inverter board I accidentally pull to hard and broke the shell that protects the pins where a cable connects. I don't know how this part is called but take a look at the pictures.

What do you guys think? Can I fix this? I am really new to soldering but i have manage to fix some easy projects.

Is this little broken piece important? or is it just there to glue the pins shell to the board and I won't have a problem without it?

If it is important do you have any tips on how to solder it again? It is a very very small tight place that I don't think my soldering iron tip will fit in there.

    Please help!

Thank you so much in advance.

That is just the connector holding tabs so it will stay on the circuit board, the male pins are the one for electrical contacts.

As long as the connector will stay in place, you will be OK.

A small bit of glue may be advisable but that is all.

isn't there a pin showing on the fragment? It looks like it in pix 3, and 4.

Great news! Thank you all for you help.

Fortunately, it's just the corner. There is no pin on it. What you are seeing on the last pics is just a small plate but no male pin on it at all.

The capacitors for the inverter board just arrived. I'll keep you posted if that fix the problem.
