i noticed a little more corrosion on pr910 and pd904 but hadn't eaten into anything that i can tell. looks battery related, could it be triggering protection?Leave a comment:

Dell Inspiron 15-3521 ~ LA-9104P ~ No Power - corroded board with pics of damage and some voltages
it was working yesterday, i opened it up and saw this mess. boardview and schematic uploaded for convenience.
PU200
pin 17 vreg5 = 0v ~ solder joint was corroded and flicked right off with my probe, was able to get clean and reflow, rest look fine.
pin 8 vreg3 = 0v
pin 13 en = .2v
pin 1,6 entrip1,2 = 0v
b+ and b++ = 19.5v
+5valw = 0v & 25+ohm to ground
+3valwp = 0v & 25+ohm to ground
i cleaned the board up just a little and can get more pics.
where should i be looking? thx... -
Philips 37HFL5682L/F7 no standby light, incomplete service manual?
picked up a tv and when the power is plugged, the standby light flashes real quick then goes off. of 3.3, 12, 24v is all there but i couldnt find any 5v on the back-end board. ON/OFF is low, which it seems is what turns on the backlight so i removed the wire at the back-end board and put a 10k resistor to the 3.3v, which when plugged in brings on the backlight for a split second and also a blue light "LED1" on the inverter board, which goes off after a short time.
am i missing something to bring on the backlight or is the inverter/ccfl gone bad? would that cause the inverter board... -
Phillips 55PFL5901/F7 (Serial No. : DS1) Boot Loop
Tv powers on when plugged in and displays the phillips logo for about 10 seconds then shuts off and then comes back on to display the logo over and over.
I've read it's possible to upgrade the firmware but I cannot find the site where I read that anymore.... -
Re: RCA LED52B45RQ wont stay on
woo wee!
it exploded in my face!
i was plugging it in to try and read some voltages and q10 exploded.
unfortunately for me there are no replacements for this board and i have no idea what that ic was, or if the power supply board was even at fault though it and the main board both had bad caps.
i guess this one goes in the dumpster unless anyone wants parts.Last edited by jasonbay13; 11-11-2019, 09:54 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: RCA LED52B45RQ wont stay on
ok, so.... the tv will come on sometimes. and now seems to have a similar problem as the thread i linked in the first post.
plug it in and the red light comes on. press the power button and the tv turns on. anywhere from 0 seconds to 20 minutes the tv will shut off. 5vstb stays at 5v and on/off stays at 4.65v (after tv has shut off).
i've tried forcing on\off and backlight without luck. power supply shuts down.
however, if i leave either the backlight on/off cable disconnected or the led connectors disconnected...Leave a comment:

Re: RCA LED52B45RQ wont stay on
i got it working. i touched up a few more solder joints and changed out c14 (33ohms) and c5 (2 ohms).
can anyone tell me why c14 is important to have a low esr?Leave a comment:

RCA LED52B45RQ wont stay on
i have the same tv and power supply board as in the forum thread below, though i have different symptoms than anywhere else i've looked and cannot find a schematic or anything else to help me.
the problem is that the red light comes on and i get 5v at +5vsb but when i press the power button the red light goes out for half a second and the +5vsb drops to 2v or so (almost too quick for my meter to read a drop at all) and the +12v shows 11v or so for a split second and +5v shows 4-5v for a split second.
This is repeatable as many times as you want to press the power button,... -
Re: Samsung un40c5000qf black screen - tcon?
i have an update: i got the new t-con just in case since it really wasnt that expensive. no change.
i have checked the voltage at c105 and c102 and at the fuse. the fuse voltage always stays at 12v (while on)
the c102 and c105 voltage with just the working side plugged in is 15.5v on the meter and when both or just the non working side is plugged it goes to 1.5vLeave a comment:

Re: Samsung un40c5000qf black screen - tcon?
so i was looking around and found this post: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=44635
in tom66 says "if you get half a good picture with one half unplugged usually it means there is a short on one side of the panel (i.e. Bad panel.)"
probably a bad idea, but it looked like the two halves of the tcon are the same so i tried putting the right (one that shows an image) and connecting to the left side of panel. i got all black screen. and when i connected the left of tcon to right of panel...Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung un40c5000qf black screen - tcon?
i just tried one side of the panel at a time. when i pull the left one out the left side goes mostly gray (except left edge it fades to black). right side is black except it says "nal cable." i assume the first part would be "check pa" nal cable.
when i reverse and have the left in and the right out it stays all blackLeave a comment:

Samsung un40c5000qf black screen - tcon?
Neighbors tv is no work: plug in and press power button it makes the startup sound and the backlight comes on but the screen is black. i am not sure if someone has touched it before as the tcon board connector from the main board had the pull clip broke on one side.
i could not find anything with a look by my own eyes.
i am getting 12.8v on both sides of the fuse at the tcon board.
connections appear to be good, re-did connection to be sure.
so, am i right in thinking t-con board or could it be the main board not sending signal, and how would i test?
