    Power board question

I do a lot of LCD/Plasma/DLP repair and I get shocked by power boards frequently, but now I'm worrying that one day I might get shocked really bad, bad enough to kill me. So, how do I fully discharge a power board without waiting days or weeks for its remaining charge to drain.
I have salvaged and fixed 18 TVs (1 DLP), 22 LCD monitors, 8 stereos, network stuff, and more laptops and computers than i can count.

    Re: Power board question

You can use 2000 Ohms 25 Watts resistor to discharge the main filter cap that can have voltage up to 400VDC. You do not want to do dead short to discharge the cap due to very high current it can deliver.
You should also plug what ever you are working on into GFCI outlet to protect you or use Isolation transformer.

After discharging the cap, the use the meter to see if it still has any voltage left on it.
Touching the traces with TV unplugged? If the voltage is no longer present then it's OK.
