HELP - Bad Inverted Colors - SANYO 37" LCD TV DP37647

    Hi all,

I bought this broken tv off craigslist the other day.
Any clues what could be causing the inverted images and ghosting on this tv?
T-con AS15 ic issue? or main board maybe? Any helpful insight would be appreciated.
    See the attached picture.

It does look like it has GAMMA problem.
There are more than one version of the T-CON/PANEL.

Yeah, I'm going to agree it is a gamma problem. You can check the gamma voltages and either replace the IC, or whole t-con board. Gamma problem is usually only common on Chimei, Chungwha and AU Optronics panels as they tend to use AS15 ICs.

How hard is it to drag solder those ic leads with a standard 25w iron?

Difficult, you really need a temperature regulated iron, typically a minimum of $100 investment.

How about the Weller WES51? Can I get onto those single pins with the standard tip?

Amazon has the WES51 for $83, a board would be a little less but I do a bit of soldering on guitars and amps so it would be nice to have a better setup anyhew.

It looks like a decent iron. You can practice on an old motherboard or piece of electronics before trying the t-con. A hot air gun is a useful tool to take the device off, you may need one of those but a cheap paint stripper can do the job fine.

                  Status update,

I was able to desolder the AS15 chip successfully with my heat gun. I wrapped the board in foil first to keep heat off of the rest of the board. The ic is marked as follows:

                  AS15-F
                  0704BG
                  B6912L08

Are AS15 chips all standard or do I need to worry about those other numbers?
Where is a good place to buy this part?

                  Thanks guys!

I mentioned above you should check the gamma voltages (I can help with this) before removing the IC or replacing a board. If you want to just replace the chip then I believe you have to match the last letter as well. There are many for sale on eBay.

What is the procedure for checking the gamma voltages? Thanks for the help Tom, I really appreciate it.

It requires the IC be present on the board, you may as well swap it now as putting an old IC back on risks damage.

                            Hi all,

i got a A1990 which shows strange colors. Sometimes looking faded or like a water mark and only visible when the cursor moves over the spot. With an external display everything looks fine.
So is there anything i can do on my own to fix this issue?
It doesn't look like the flexgate macs i have seen....

Philips 70PUS7855/12 bad colors when applying the tape fix on teh T-con board

                            Hi!
Got an 70 inch Philips tv model 70pus7855/12 from scraps and I decidet to give it a go. I'm an enthusiast but no porfessional in the electronics.
Found some advices watching youtube nad came up with this:
It came with no picture, after diagnosing it I found out that the right side of the T.con board was faulty.
I taped down the clock signals and I got a picture but the left side of the panel has less pronounced colours. Only the right 3rd side of the panel has good colors.
                            See attached picture.

I tried a few combinations to block individual clock...

Mystery 80s Sanyo cap - perhaps polymer?
                            by cj_reha
Hey all I've been working on a 1984 Sanyo 27" color TV which had a smattering of bad caps in the video switching circuit. I found this oddball little 1uF 25V cap which looks to me like an early polymer, but I can't find concrete info proving it. I know Sanyo was a big player in early polymer cap development and this is the time period where they were just getting on the market, so I'm wondering if anyone has crusty old datasheets that could help identify it and determine if my suspicions are right? It has the same epoxy end seal and font/formatting as some old stock Os-Cons I've got laying...

Need help with this unit...looks like the colors are not displayed correctly....not an expert, but looks like something wrong with the GREEN...have attached the photo of the 'home menu' and the recorded video of the Demo video that's on the TV for viewing/testing.

Where should I look for faults? Everything else looks/works ok.

BTW...have upgraded to the latest FW/SW version, but nothing changed....
