i'm guessing the led on SN board is D583, and it does not light up. Tried to power up several times focusing on different sections of the board, never found a green led to light up

I know I keep asking this but the panel itself, does it power up to give a normal display or just a flash or nothing at all, just a shutdown with SOS6?

the panel does not light up for long enough to give a normal display... It seems as though as soon as the screen flashes up it trips something and goes dark to SOS6. About 1 second or a little less.

So it does get a full screen of gray/black with backlight before it goes into SOS mode

Ok. I'm randomly trying stuff here so if it appears I have no idea, I don't! Can you set your meter to diode and place the probes across that D583 both polarities and also if you do it in low light watch carefully the D583 and tell me if there is a very faint green glow.

I find when I probe these with my fluke it has just enough voltage to light it ever so dimly but is noticeable. It will be dim so bright light may be a hinderance.

getting a short with both polarities on the led, can't get it to light up.... this mm may not provide enough voltage?

Ok, in diode mode, what did the display read exactly what you see .

I might get you to repeat this on the same LED on the SS for comparison. Definitely should not be short. I would expect they'd go open if failed. Using my fluke on a SS it lights with a reading of 1.7

Diode mode reads 0L

OL is out of range, out of limit. Try the SS and tell me what happens.

So the part of the cct that feeds that LED is not producing voltage. I have had a board which was a 1 in a million had an open cct LED and that triggered SOS6.

The 5.6ohm resistors that feedthe DG302s, i forget we checked thos and were ok?

I feel like a dolt. Went through for the THIRD time to check all the soldering that I did and found a poor connection on one of the DG302's. Resoldered and now the TV turns on gets a display etc.
However, there are thin black horizontal lines across the display in several sections of the panel.
If it isn't one thing, it's another.

Can't believe we've made it this far, and there is no way I would have been able to do this without badcaps and you, TW... and Glitcher, and Hombre for turning me on to those DG302's
