Sceptre X32GV-Komodo Turns on but then turns back off, after logo, with some flickr.

I have a Sceptre X32GV-Komodo, When I turn on the TV it comes on, shows the Sceptre Logo (The logo has a light flicker) then it will power off, It will not turn back on again, unless I unplug it and then plug it back in and it will repeat the process, I did a visual inspection of the capacitors, and I saw three that were bad.

I bought this kit from LCD Alternatives and replaced all the caps on the power supply board, except the monster one, however this did not resolve the problem.

Does anyone have any ideas on what may be the problem?

    Thank You

    Hello Everyone,

I examined the TV further and upon startup, I noticed that the LCD power light and the backlight appear to flicker at the same time. Then the TV powers off, including the LCD light. I tried the flashlight test to confirm and do not see an image. So I don't think the issue is with the CCFL's, I looked at the playlist from the repair guides and found this video do you think this is a voltage regulator issue?

    Thank You

Could be a bad ccfl, bad ccfl wiring, or a bad backlight inverter.

Have you checked the resistance across the high voltage pins on the the backlight inverter transformer?

Pictures of how all the boards are connected? Pictures of the boards? Disconnect the power cable between the Inverter and the power supply to see if the power LED will still flicker.

I had the same problem with a 46" Sceptre X460BV. Turned out to be the T-Con.

The important info starts at post #65 on page 4.

Edit** My set would power off and on with the button. You may not be having the same issue, but it's a place to start.

            Hey Everyone,

I appreciate the recommendations. Tonight when I get home I will take high-res photos of the back of the TV. I apologize for not doing that already. I will also try budm's suggestion of removing the cable from the power inverter to see if I still have a flickering issue on the power LED.

One other thing (and I know this is super lame) but I don't yet have a multi-meter. That doesn't mean I'm not serious about fixing it however, I will be buying one shortly, just have to wait for payday :-)

            Thanks!

              Hello Everyone,

I have done as Budm has suggested and disconnected the power cable between the inverter and the power supply.

When I try to power it on, the LED power light comes on, and after a few moments flickers and then goes out.

Attached are some pictures of everything as was requested:

              Back of TV opened

              Power supply

              Main board

              Inverter Board

I am still learning about LCD tv's does this tv have a t-con board? Can that function be built into the main board?

              Thank You

The T-CON is under the shielded metal cover next to the power supply.
So we need to look at the 5VSTBY output to see if it is steady or not.
Is there any voltage labels on the power supply board connector that goes to the main board?
The connector on the main board that has a ground wire attached to the screw is the one that supply the signals and voltage to the T-CON board, you will have be real careful when trying to remove the connector because it has very small wires attached to it.

Measure the DC voltage at that '5V' pin. you can use the chassis as the ground point.

OK, I don't have a multimeter, I tried to buy a Fluke 87v yesterday at Fry's, but they were out of stock. Ill get one, and will reply back here when i can do what you have requested. Do you recommend any particular multi-meter? Also thank you so much for the help, you have no idea how much I appreciate it!

The Fluke 87 is a nice meter. I would love to have one. With that said, you can get a meter that will work for this purpose for less than $10 at Harbor Freight.

                            Hello Budm, johnboy1313,

I bought a new CEN-TECH multimeter at harbor freight for 20 bucks. I put everything back together and I did the following.

                            1. Clipped ground to the chassis, and put the positive lead on the 5v line.

                            2. I plugged in the TV, for the first 2 seconds, I get 5V DC, then it falls down to 2V DC, and slowly continues to decline after that.

                            3. If I hit the power button at that moment, it will power up, the line will read 5V DC again, and then the TV will power down again.

                            Thanks!

OK, can you give all the voltage labeling on both two white connectors (one is CN4, another I cannot see the number)?
Then the good closed up shot of both sides of the power supply board, and also 1/4 section shot of both side of the board so I trace out the connections. I suspect you may have bad start up cap in the 5VSTBY section which is generayed by the smallest yeallow transformer on the board.

Try replacing these two caps (in red circles) or trying heating them up with hair dyer for 2~3 minutes then plug the TV into the outlet and see if 5v will stay at 5v. I got the pictures from other thread.

                                  Oh Man,

                                  That worked!
Thank you Budm, now allow me to explain why this is hilarious and why I feel seriously stupid right now.

I thought I had replaced those capacitors, and in fact I had replaced one of them, the fatter one 50v 100uf. However the smaller one 50v 1uf, which had no signs of damage physically, i didn't replace apparently, and then I looked through my old pile of capacitors next to the tv and found the capacitor from the kit I was supposed to replace it with, which means that i need to now go back to the store i bought the kit from and return my refund :-)

Just want to make it clear that the original kit I purchased did fix the issue.

Hello! Not new here, just couldn't find my old log in information!

I replaced all of the "bulging capacitors" on my board, still having power issues. No power light, nothing works when plugged in.

I can heat up the capacitors in the above picture but, I only get the blue power light to flash for a second when I plug in the power and then it turns off.

Any ideas? Guessing I should replace the 2 capacitors pictured above?

                                        Thanks!

                                          Hello everyone,
as stated in the title, my surface 7 pro wont boot anymore.
When i press the power button it shows the square windows logo for a second and immediately turtns off again.
I dont even have a chance to get into bios or boot from usb.
While trying to find help online it was suggested to look for help/repair here on badcaps and it might be a ME Region corruption in bios.
I dont know what that is exactly, but i never tinkered with the bios or windows in terms of hacking/patching etc.

Ok so here's the story. I was watching tv one day when all of a sudden I heard a pop from the back of the tv set and rushed to unplug the set. By this time the tv already had smoke coming out the back. It was not storming or inclement weather that day to cause a power surge to the best of my abilities. When I opened the tv up, I found that the three capacitors on the psu (highlighted in red) were all bulging and looked they had exploded. I replaced all of them right away and when I went to start up the tv after the "fix" it started just showing the flashing vizio logo as soon as power...

                                          Hello everybody,

I had this Hisense TV since November 2019 (Bestbuy Blackfriday special). Couple of nights ago my dad turned it off normally. In the morning it does turn on, shows the Hisense logo, then the LED light flashes and it turns off. It remains in the same state.

                                          Things I have done:
                                          A. Plug it off and on.
                                          B. Plug it off, pushing the power button for up to 2 minutes, plug it in.
                                          C. Contacted the customer service, They sent me a firmware update, with the file name:
                                          upgrade_loader_no_tvcertificate.pkg
                                          The zip file has this...

Vizio M60-C3 powers on, perfect logo, turns off. If you don't touch anything it will repeat this process by itself until it is unplugged. Not the "button board" since I disconnected the cables to the main board and the problem persisted. So I'm fairly positive something is going on with the main board, but want to know if there is a fix for this other than replacing the expensive mainboard, which may eventually have the same problem. Also, heat sink was hot as hell when this all started. Unplugged for a few days and same thing happens.

MacBook Pro 14" M1 Pro Turns on functions then turns off when I plug in USB C cable to reset the computer. I disconnect the battery fully and then reconnect it and it won't turn back on. After letting it sit for a day I plug the battery back up, and the MagSafe 3 cable and it powers on and stays ons, once I plug in a USB C cable into the port closes to the MagSafe port it turns off and the Amber light turns off and won't turn on. No water damage, nothing, I want to do a DFU restore to wipe the computer since the customer stated they did an update and ever since it just decided to not work...
