Re: L37 HDTV 37" Vizio LCD TV No Picture,

You can take resistance readings of all the pins against the Ground pin (pin 6) and report the readings.

Re: L37 HDTV 37" Vizio LCD TV No Picture,

Those reading seems low, most of the pins (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8) have Zener protection Diodes I would expect it toe read hi resistance when the probes are reversed. You can see those Zener Diodes in the spec sheet.
What DC voltage do you get between pin8 (VCC) and Ground pin 6? Be real careful since you will be working in the HOT Deadly side of the circuit.

Re: L37 HDTV 37" Vizio LCD TV No Picture,

Oh I was measuring them using diode mode on "2K" range. If I reverse the probes, black on pin 6 while probing with red, I'm getting all "1" out of range.

Re: L37 HDTV 37" Vizio LCD TV No Picture,

OK, that is why it is showing the Vf of the Zener Diode. Check the DC voltages next (TV on), use pin 6 as the ground pin for the black meter probe. Show the reading of all the pins.

Re: L37 HDTV 37" Vizio LCD TV No Picture,

OK, it is not getting the VCC on pin8 to run it, that voltage is fed through a switched transistor (this transistor is turn on when it gets the ps_on signal), the voltage is generated from the AUX winding of the standby power supply. This is getting deep to troubleshoot since you will have to trace out the connection next by following the VCC pin to see where it goes to.

Just bought a used PSU from ebay for $25, and the TV is working perfectly now. I'll be troubleshooting and comparing the components of both boards to see if I can find the orginalfault.

Ah yes that was when I was testing the diodes. Well seems I can't find anything on the original problem. Checked every component around the pfc voltage booster and there were no differences... I did find one area with a noticeable difference in resistance between the two, but testing the components around it, I couldn't find anything seemingly bad.

                                by fharris1977
Hi. I got a Vizio with no power or standby, and won't turn on with remote or button. I checked the voltages on the connector and all read 0.00V or nearly 0(0.050 ON/OFF pin). None of the pins are labeled STB for standby although I do see some 5V pins. Other than the obvious standby led, which isn't coming on, is there a way to check for standby voltage on this PS. I'm trying to see if my problem is the PS or mainboard. Some Vizios I have fixed with no standby led me to think it was the PS but it turned out being the mainboard. Any experience with this set would be greatly appreciated.

The standby light flashes 2 times then reboots then it then tries to come back on again and just keeps looping until I take either one of the ribbon tables out (doesn’t matter which one I take out it stays lit when either one is out). I’ve tested the backlights but all working with none shorting out, I’ve replaced the main board...

Hi I inherited a Vizio M65-E0 that isn't working. It must have been dropped on the corner because I found that the infrared circuit had a capacitor with one end broken off of the board and some green corrosion around the plug to the main board. I re-soldered the capacitor and cleaned the corrosion well and tried turning the M65-E0 on and I was successful. My problem is that while the back lights come on and appear to perform local dimming there is no picture or sound. It kind of looks like you are looking at the TV through a very dense fog, where changing the input on the remote will change bright...
