    Sony KDL-40EX500 Problem

Hi there, I'm new this forum so hello everyone. I just bought a Sony KDL-40EX500 for a dirt cheap price and I have been trying and trying to figure out what is wrong with it. The whites on the panel are a fuchsia color but if I turn down the "Picture" setting I notice it goes away but then the colors start to bleed into each other. I have checked most of the voltages throughout the board and found nothing out of the ordinary. If someone could give me a little guidance, I would be grateful!

          Reidk,

Post a picture of the main board. I have one I just removed from a 40EX400. Not sure if they are the same or not but I could give you a real good price on it if you want it.

Scratch that. The board looks the same but the 500 has an additional chip on it so not sure what it's for. Here's one on Ebay though for $55. Not a bad price if it worked.

Pretty sure that extra chip is for the 120Hz motion flow. The 400 series is 60Hz.
