I think this is not a psu fault because your television is on. This is tcon fault because if we left tv in off position for more time tcon board create problem like this

I have that same meter. I got it from a neighbor in a pinch before I bought my Fluke. I've only used it once, though.

How would I check to see if it is the tcon?

Yeah, this could be a t-con problem. I don't know of many tests for the t-con, besides checking if the main fuse on the board is getting proper voltage (should be 12V on each side of the fuse). Also, you can try using cold spray and a hair dryer to cool and heat the board, respectively. If cooling it restores the picture to normal, you can pretty much assume that the t-con is bad. Likewise, if the picture goes haywire using the hair dryer, that's a good indicator. Sometimes, the chip joints on the t-con loosen as the TV warms up, causing a bad picture. In most cases, you'd have to replace the t-con if it's faulty.

So I was able to get my hands on a hair dryer and heating the t-con definitely changes the pattern on the screen. I have identified my t-con model # and am going to try replacing it.

I have similar problem with this same tv. My problem is that it has sound but picture is black completely. No signal or flicker. Nothing on screen. I'm a newbie. Don't know where to start. The TV was on, I left the room for 5 mind and when I came back there was no pic. I could hear it. If I turn it on or off it makes the sound but no signs of picture. Not even menu or anything.

What can I check first? I can get a multimeter if needed. I took the back off and didn't see anything broken or unusual but I'm I may be wrong.

My 22 inch Videocon LCD TV is having no picture but sound is there, the picture is shown for 2 second when switched on.
I checked the invertor board but could not find any bad deformed caps.

maybe start a new thread and include the full model number of your tv and attach some good clear pictures of each board used in your tv 2 seconds to black could be a number of things if ccfl they could of failed or maybe a invertor transformer but untill we can see pictures its hard to help and advise you.

What do you need a t con? part numbers from the board and from any stickers on the board also are you sure your t cons at fault?

In my case the capacitor for the backlight was blown. At first I thought there no picture at all, but if I darkened the room and shined a flashlight on the screen, there was in fact still a picture!
The capacitor at first looked ok to a non-electrical me, but on closer inspection I could see it was bulging slightly on the sides.

If you do not have backlights then check the fuse int he middle of the board and the white cap (2W 474k) to see if it is bulging from the side or if it has lost its capacitance.
