Well have another for you guys. Here's the history. The guy I got this from said it is only 8 months old. He said it just stopped working.They had a repair guy come out wanted 250.00 to repair.Here's what it's doing. plug into outlet orange vizio light comes on.Press power button vizio light turns white,then get vizio slash screen for a second then goes off and back to white vizio light.white vizio flashes once and when goes back to orange vizio light. it does this every time you hit the power button. no other buttons work menu,av etc. Only have 5.v no 12v 18v or 24 volt I have read the threads on this matter for other tv's some say main board others say PSB or inverter. Hope you guys can help sort this out. this is a nice tv.I will post pictures

Since you have backlight even briefly, you -will- have 24V. You need to check if it is stable or not.

Tom66, I checked 24v on power board at CN4 all the black wires read o.o but there is a white wire that's labeled 24v and it is not stable it is reading 0 volts to 30 volts and it just keeps cycling from 0v to 30v

30V? Is your multimeter an autoranging type or one set to a manual range? If unsure, post a picture of it.

OK, can you set it to a fixed 200V DC range. This is usually done by pressing the RANGE button until the required range is reached. Then re-measure the 24V and see if it is still overshooting. Reason for doing this is many autoranging meters will over-shoot on fast changing voltages.

OK, can you set it to a fixed 200V DC range. This is usually done by pressing the RANGE button until the required range is reached. Then re-measure the 24V and see if it is still overshooting. Reason for doing this is many autoranging meters will over-shoot on fast changing voltages.

Changed meters reads 0 volts now

But you still get backlight briefly? Would mean your meter is at fault or you are testing it wrong.

I tested it with the tv plugged in. should I push the power button when testing the 24 v

O.K pushed the power button back lights come on for a second and get 24v for a second . then volts drop to 0v

OK. Next step. Locate the PSON line and see if that is stable.

Hmm... Odd labelling... I think it is REMODE. A possible typo from REMOTE, sometimes what PSON is called.

found it, pushed power button got 3.1v

yes 3.1 volts then 0 volts

Mkay, you're probably looking at a main board fault.
