Hello all! I am real stuck on this one. I have Vizio V042L that will not Power and has no voltage what so ever coming out of the PS board. Not even standby voltage. I have checked all fuses. I know it isn't the main board, because the voltage is not even making it that far. I have replaced the rectifier(even though it tested good.) I have replaced the Q801 (part#15N60C3) even though it tested good. I am lost at this point. I cannot see any physical failures either. Please help. Thanks!

Re: Vizio V042L Completely dead!
Do you get 160vdc right at the two legs of that large filter cap?
Straight shot pictures of both top and bottom side of the board, also in 1/4 section or smaller pictures of top and bottom so I can see the traces and component on the board.

Re: Vizio V042L Completely dead!
"62.5 AcV though" That reading is wrong because you are using the Chassis safety ground as the Ground ref point. For the incoming AC measurement, you will read the AC voltage at the Line(Black or Brown) and the Neutral wire (White or Blue) which should read 120VAC. When you work in the primary side DC voltage checking, the Negative leg of that large filter cap will be the primary side circuit ground ref. point for the voltage measurement.
Since you do not have the DC at the main filter cap, I will need to trace out the connection from the AC input to the Bridge rectifier to the filter cap. The main fuse is good for sure, right?
I will download the pictures and make some test points for you to test, it will be awhile.
By the way, did any body else work on this TV before it went out and did it go out all the suddenly?Last edited by budm; 07-01-2013, 10:38 PM.Never stop learning

Re: Vizio V042L Completely dead!
That is just a coincident since those blue caps (x/y safety caps with very low value) are for noise filter, they can all be removed and the power supply will still functioning without them in place. Since now you do have the 160DVC on the cap, try flexing the board to see if the 160V will go away.
The 1.325nF is = .001uF (the 0.325 may be just the meter error) which is about right for the cap between the Line and the chassis ground, the value should be low since we do not too much AC current flowing into the safety ground.Last edited by budm; 07-01-2013, 11:24 PM.Never stop learning

Re: Vizio V042L Completely dead!
Ok, I will have to trace out the standby power supply section next. I did not really have the chance to look at all the pictures yet to see if they are usable or not, it will be sometime tomorrow before I can dig deep into board layout, it is getting late here for me right now, will continue tomorrow, Tom from England may come on line soon, he may be able to look at the pictures also. Re: Vizio V042L Completely dead!
Update.! Looked around a bit more and found this. C909 blew out its bottom. Also the Mosfet right next to it Q905 was very black on the lower corner. There was big black burn mark on the heatsink. I replaced C909 and retested with same problem. I am thinking Q905 may have failed, but not quite sure how to test it.Last edited by XmouseX; 07-02-2013, 10:37 AM.Comment

Re: Vizio V042L Completely dead!
C909 looks to be part of the snubber circuit, you can check the MOSFET if it has Source to Drain shorted out or not, that cap is also high voltage rating cap.Never stop learning

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by k370Hi everyone,
I have a NM-A321 board that is dead, with no power at all.
When I received the laptop, the +5VPMIC line was shorted. Removing the PU3 (ISL95905) solved the short, so I ordered and replaced the ISL.
With the new ISL, the short is gone, but still no voltages at all. I measured the following rails:- +3VALW
- +5VAUX
- 1.2VSUS_PWRGD
- 3VALW_PGD
- 1.05VAUX_PWRGD
Additionally, the ISL95906 (PU3) is not getting any voltage on the VIN rail.
The only place on the board where I find any voltage is on the first MOSFETs, specifically:... -
by fharris1977Hi. Anyone who has experience with these vizio sets, which pin on this connector is the standby, the 5V pin? Trying to rule out the PSU before ordering a mainboard. I'm getting 0 Volts on all pins on this connector. Trying to jump the standby and PS ON pins to see if the PSU is functioning. Thanks in advance.1 Photo

by corrizeHello, the DSLR has heavyly fallen. It is dead : no sign of life and display nothing.
When it worked, it always displayed a card present state on LCD display, even when the battery is empty it display a empty battery symbol.
I found a dead fuse, I replaced it and a mosfet burnt, I changed it and another fuse burned. Nothing burned after. And I can't find any short circuit anywhere, it's weird.
Now, I try to understand how it works.
There is two boards (the little one on pictures has no component) : the first is a « power board » : managing... -
by Asraf AtbHi everyone,
Im looking for some advice regarding my Samsung UE55MU8000 TV with main board model BN94-11606C. The TV suddenly stopped turning on and now shows no signs of life at all not even the standby light at the bottom.
Initially, I suspected an issue with the PSU, so I took it to a repair center. They tested it and confirmed that the PSU works perfectly, even on other TVs. Based on that, I started investigating the main board.
I disconnected the main board from the PSU, and the backlight turned on, which seems to confirm the main board is the issue....1 Photo - Loading...
