HITACHI 42HDS69 Plasma random Vertical lines in middle of screen

    Hello everyone,

I have a Hitachi 42HDS69 plasma TV that works perfectly for about 15-20 minutes and then in the near middle of the screen, about 2 inches wide from top to bottom, there are vertical lines spaced about 1/8 of an inch apart, so about 30 or 40 lines that you see.

Now the odd thing is they are random in that they go away (mostly) and come back while viewing the source.

This does this whether a signal is input or not. What would be the cause?

When the problem occurs, is the whole screen covered in lines, or just a small section?

Just a small 2 inch wide section, the rest of the TV looks normal.

Just wanted to add, I'm testing the TV out right now and I think its a heat related issue, when the TV is off and cools back down, it does not have the lines, after getting to a certain temperature it starts to display the lines.

I say this because its been about 40 minutes and the TV hasn't exhibited the line issue, but the TV isn't really warm yet either...

I figured some pictures would better illustrate the issue. I took 2 photos. One shows the green lines, one shows when they get less noticeable/almost go away.

OK, it is likely a loose connector... Post a picture of the inside of your TV.

I'll let Tom chime in, but my guess at where he was going is that there are address boards that run along the bottom of the panel behind the A/V board. One of the ribbon cable connectors between the address board and the panel in the vicinity of the defect may be loose. I'd also check the connections between the control board and the address boards.

Well I thought you would all like to know, I went ahead and removed the input panel on the back of the TV, and saw the connections (think its called the Z buffer?) on the side of the panel that the issue was on (I marked the width of the bezel where the lines were so I could see the area while looking at the back of the TV)

The problem area was right where the connection to the buffer board went, I unplugged it, cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol, and plugged it back in and its working perfectly, heck, I even notice improvement on overall image quality.

Figured you would all like a pic to see the working product. Thanks to all for your help!!

It's amazing how easily flat panel TVs can develop these simple issues. Enjoy!

Sorry for bumping an old post but this is exactly what I am running into right now

I have a friend that is quite knowledgeable in this and we've already changed the ysus board to only find out problem still occurs :-(

How did you fix this and where would I find this z buffer you speak of ? Please let me know

                      Thanks

It's different for each TV. You'd need to look at the connectors underneath the main board/AV board assembly.

Connectors are under here. You need to remove a lot of stuff to get at them, before doing so take a piece of tape and put it on part of the panel which is faulty as a marker for which connector is likely causing the problem. The connections must only be adjusted with power off.

As stated by the person I collected the TV from, it just stopped working overnight. However, I still gave it a go to try and repair it.

There is a thread on the same TV but with slightly different issues where they had to tape connection points on the ribbon cable, so I want to see if this is repairable by any chance.

After bringing it home and plugging it in, the TV turned on with its backlight working but had no picture. After removing the back cover, the first thing I tried is to unplug one of the ribbon cables and the situation is as follows.

I have this monitor which had the known issue with the corrupted flash. That is solved, now, after some time it started to cut the image from time to time and just display grayish random vertical lines. After some minutes the image usually comes back, until it does the same again.

I took it apart and the only think that I noticed was ZD1 protection diode on the TCON board reaching 90ºC when it's showing this erratic behavior. I measured the voltage on the fuse right beside it, and is measuring 15.3V (under load). Without the TCON board connected, the connector measures 18.3V....

Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

                                    Hello,

First of all I'm new here. While looking I found this amazing forum and I'm very happy I did. Now for my problem:

I picked up a Samsung UHD QLED QE50Q67TAU from 2021 for $50 knowing it was defective. The seller said it had black lines and that it could get stuck in boot randomly.

I've tried a new power cable, hard reset, opening up and jiggling all cables, pressing everywhere to see if I get a reaction but I've gotten nothing. I've tried the tape method but I've only managed to get the lines worse.

I'm no expert but I've done the tape...

Hi, I have a Sony XBR-65X750D that has horizontal lines at the bottom 6 inches of the screen. These lines appear to be every other line because the picture is still quite visible behind those lines. The lines appear all the time with a few other lines above and below the 6 inch level blinking on and off at about 2 second intervals. I'm not sure if this is a panel issue or power supply/main board problem. I did replace the T-Con board without any change in the problem. Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
