I think it happens because the epprom is not read-only. When you save the settings, you save them in some section of the epprom and it might be that section that gets corrupted and when booting the screen is unable to read it. Just a guess
I still have the screen working but still with no thunderbolt. I was not able to find any dumped bin from a working 31MU97Z-B...

Hey! I have this exact same laptop and I've read this thread but I'm a bit lost. The laptop has 3 flash chips. One 25Q256 which I guess it's the bios and two others. From what I understood, the bios password is stored in one ot the others, which one is it? 25Q80DVIG or 25Q128JVPQ?
I guess after dumping the two required ones, for clearing the pass, you also need the DMI or how you call it (the sticker infomation written on the inside of the bottom lid) or in case I upload the 2nd flash chip dump, you just clear that one and I dont need to input the info from the sticker with the "ARIES...

Re: Dell E5420 BIOS
Hi,
Can someone help me remove the bios password from this bios file
Service TAG: GPY5CT1
Board: KRUG 14*UMA REV:A02
14* UMA:10ELT16G001
I also found this website, but I'm not sure it works. I'm avoiding have to assemble the laptop again just to find it doesn't work.

Re: GL553VW pictures need to restore traces
I'm not an expert on mosfets, but there are compatibility lists out there.Last edited by piernov; 03-27-2023, 06:33 AM.

Re: GL553VW pictures need to restore traces
the board I have, don't show any lights when there is no battery. the mosfet in question read 0.3V in source and gate and nothing on the drain. When battery is plugged, it reads 14.5V in every pin. The battery light doesn't come on, weird. I think I remembered it still turning on even with a shorted CPU.

I have some dead cpu boards around. later I can try to measure mine with battery and without battery so you can compare.

Re: GL553VW pictures need to restore traces
Oh, ok. in that case I think the CPU is OK. have you tried different ram modules? These models do not like ram with more than DDR4-2666 speed.
You can also try to do ME clean of the bios and see if it boots.
Where is this Q8803 mosfet? Is there a schematic of this laptop? I forgot if there is. edit: There is a board view here on the forum.Re: GL553VW pictures need to restore traces

Re: GL553VW pictures need to restore traces
You might have a dead mosfet feeding the CPU, that is why it dies when you start to load it, but since you loaded it and tested it so many times, now you must have a shorted mosfet sending 19V directly to the CPU.
I suspect you have a dead CPU now. It's the behavior I observed with all of the motherboard that had a dead CPU.Last edited by piernov; 03-24-2023, 04:31 PM.

Re: JGINYUE B85i-PLUS motherboard no signs of life
The 3.3V are there. The PSU is fine. It's now being used in another machine.
Could it be some crystal oscillator? I would replace them, but I cannot identify anything in the round bottom one.
Maybe I should also try to clear the ME region of the bios....

JGINYUE B85i-PLUS motherboard no signs of life
I bought this chinese ITX motherboard around a year ago. It was on a secondary machine barely used. I bought it mainly because it has M2 SSD slot and mini PCIe for wifi.
One day I pushed the power button and there was no reaction. No beeps, no fan spin, nothing.
Removed power from the PSU, waited a few minutes, plugged it back and it powered up again fine.
A week after, same thing but this time I could only make it power after plugging and unplugging everything several times (RAM, ATX connector, GPU, etc).
Now, I cannot make it power no matter what I do.
I...Last edited by Vspeed; 02-03-2023, 10:47 AM.

The short was on C65111. Now waiting for the mosfet to arrive.

KUBO K1013 netbook (S133AR400)
I have this small netbook which is not booting. I dumped the bios and tried to clean the ME but I'm unable. I'm getting some errors when building the image.
I'll upload the files I user and the original bios and you tell me what I'm going wrong and/or send me a clean bios.
Thank you....Last edited by SMDFlea; 01-24-2023, 09:31 AM.

Found the component. it is PE507BA.
Now I need to find where is the short before replacing it.

Found the issue. R746 was detached from the board on one of the legs. screen working fine again.
Thank you.

Re: LCD 31MU97Z displays random lines randomly
All the resistors match the schematic. Also, IN and SW are not shorted, they read 0.567V in diode mode (black probe IN, red probe SW). The same between these and ground (red probe on ground)
I took measurements for other MP2315GJ around and they read more or less the same values...

Re: LCD 31MU97Z displays random lines randomly
Could MP2315GJ be shorted or defective?
I need to try and check it.

LCD 31MU97Z displays random lines randomly
I have this monitor which had the known issue with the corrupted flash. That is solved, now, after some time it started to cut the image from time to time and just display grayish random vertical lines. After some minutes the image usually comes back, until it does the same again.
I took it apart and the only think that I noticed was ZD1 protection diode on the TCON board reaching 90ÂșC when it's showing this erratic behavior. I measured the voltage on the fuse right beside it, and is measuring 15.3V (under load). Without the TCON board connected, the connector measures 18.3V....Last edited by Vspeed; 01-22-2023, 02:36 PM.

Re: Lenovo IdeaCentre AIO 300 Bios corrupted
Hi,
Do you still have this board?
Can you check Q60000 reference for me or take a close photo? it's right behind the power connector
