    Panasonic TC-P42C2 SOS10 (10 Blinks)

    Hi all

It's been a while since I've last posted. Anyway, long story short, I've got my hands on 4 plasmas 2 LCDs (they were too cheap to pass up!). One of which is a Panasonic Viera, 42", TC-P42C2. Great shape, except it is reporting SOS10, or 10 blinks of the red power light.

I've gone through some research online and testing, although it was a couple of months ago. I've isolated the SN board as the faulty board. However, as I am good with a multimeter and proficient with a soldering iron, I'd like to try to diagnose the SN board at a component level before replacing the entire board. Upon visual inspection, nothing is out of the ordinary (solder joints, caps, etc).

I have located the Panasonic service manual for this unit. It is available on Elektrotanya here. If you are unable to download from that link, I have also located the manual on Google Drive, where no download is required here.

Page 6 shows the location of the SN board from the back of the TV, while pages 58-68 have a schematic diagram of the board, and pages 74 and 75 show a visual of the board.

As I said before, I am good with a soldering iron and multimeter, but I am a little over my head in terms of testing the components on the SN board.

Anyone have a little bit of wisdom to share?

    Thanks!

How did you conclude bad SN?
Did it change from 10 after isolation?
    Was SN2 or SN3 shorted?
    Any shorted IGBTs?

If no obvious shorts try measuring input resistance for the P5V line pin 30-gnd SC20(TP16,17-gnd, or across C561)

I concluded the SN board last time I worked on the unit by following a previous thread on another site with the same symptoms as my TV. The SOS changed to I believe 6 or 7 blinks, as the thread stated it should. I've since lost the link to that post.

I haven't much component-level testing yet; that's the area where I need some help.

Maybe I should rephrase, as well. I know how to use a multimeter, but I'm not too familiar with which components to test, or how to properly test them. If I could get a little more guidance as to which components, I'd be very greatful.

So you could start with the checkpoints I listed (SN2,SN3, P5V in at SC20 )and see if any short cct, test all transistors mounted on the heatsinks marked as "Q..."

nothing special needed for this, set the meter to diode mode and just bell out the leads on the transistors. list the results.

Since this is essentially a combined SC,SD,SU also check for any shorts between gnd(or any of these TP59-63) and the output pins at connectors SN11-18 . If there is then there's not much point going on as the SMD buffer ICs (QFP 128 pin) are blown.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Panasonic switching power supply daughter board has two 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors which I do not keep in stock
            by sam_sam_sam
I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

Panasonic TC-P54VT25 No image. A or D board?
            by canadaboy25
I have a Panasonic TC-P54VT25 that will power on and prime the display but there is no image at all.

The panel is primed as there is a slight glow from the entire panel. This means the problem should be logic related. The service manual also confirms this and recommends replacing the A or the D board.

I have tried to get the TV to display the test sequence but I have been unable to and I don't even know if this TV has a test sequence or not. I tried following tom66's instructions in post #3 on this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26790. There was...

Panasonic P50VT20B Plasma 12 Blinks, Power Supply or A-Board?
            by Biruslapio
Hello, I've had this TV for 3 years, 2 years ago it stopped working signaling 12 Blinks, SOUND_SOS according to the service manual.

It has no VSUS or VDAT, and P15V has 1.0V instead, the same 15V goes to A board. F15V is ok and other main voltage rails.

It seems the power supply is defective, since unplugging D20 ribbon cable that goes from D-board to SC-board makes the behavior change, the TV stays on, there's no image nor VSUS, but 15V reads 2.4V, high enough to not trip the SOS 12 blinks, so it stays on, fans do not spin but I left it 2 hours, green led lit up...
