    37LH5000 Switches itself off

Hi guys, got a 37" LG 37LH5000 it has a fault where you turn it on and you get the channel install box up, but straight away the picture gets dimmer in 3 stages from normal brightness to black screen, it does this 3 times then switches off.....any ideas? it will switch on again but does the same thing.

Have opened it up and looked at the caps on the power board but they all look fine....im puzzled, any help would be gratefull. Thanks

Check the BLON and DIM signals from the main board. If you need more help, you will need to post pictures.

Pictures of the chassis and power supply and then we'll talk.

Can you get a closer shot of the top left connector in this photo, in particular the pin legend in black next to it.

the top right is PWR-DTM, then underneath that is ERROR INV ON/OFF

OK, it looks like the 2nd down from top left pin is the backlight brightness control.

You will need a digital multimeter.

Set the multimeter to DC 20V. Red probe goes in VOLT jack. Black probe in COM jack. Place the black probe on some exposed part of the metal backing, e.g. the wall mount points. Then touch the red probe to the exposed metal around the connector. The connector to the main board must be installed.

Record the reading when the TV is working, then as it begins to get dimmer and finally when it switches off.

If the BRI signal is not stable it is the main board, but if it is stable it is power board, inverter board or lamps. Likely inverter board or lamps in my opinion.

2 Belkin KVM switches have dim VGA output
                                          by MrCreosote
When compared to a direct VGA connection, these 2 switches both output a darker image. The switches are:

                                          4-port Omniview Pro2 f1dz104t
8-port Omniview either f1da108t OR f1dz108t (look and function same, OSD may be only difference.)

The 4 is dimmer, the 8 is massively dimmer - both with same AC adapter and cabling.

                                          AD ADAPTER:

There were issues with previous AC adapter, it failed during lightning strike that blew up TV and other stuff and tripped a 15 amp breaker in the main panel which also had a whole house Cutler Hammer surge...

Hisense H60N5705 installed in a conference room, turns off automatically a few minutes after being switched on.

Problem occurred suddenly, during a video conference. Switched on again by the remote control, it continued to work for a while and then switched off again.

Power cable and HDMI cable checked.

No changes by connecting the TV to another source but, even if it is left on the OSD menu, it stays on for a few minutes and then switches off.

So they took the TV (a 60' which is not easy to handle) to the lab and asked me to check it.

                                          by merkin
These switches are bad and I need a replacement.
                                          The dimension are:
                                          L: 10mm
                                          W: 5mm
                                          H: 4.5mm

Pins are 5mm center to center both length wise and width wise.

                                          Any help would be appreciated....

I have tried flashing the bios, which I download from:
                                          here.

Not sure this board has a separate flash chip for the EC....

                                          Hi
Bit of a weird one. Unit will only stay on for a few minutes and functions correctly while it's on. Output to speakers normal. Then switches off. No power, no standby, unit is dead. 10 minutes later, it can be turned back on and functions normally again. It's not generating any heat. Has anyone seen anything similar ?
