Hi
I’m looking at a cheap 30v 10amp max bench supply. Would the banana plugs, wires and a barrel connector (for laptop fittings) have to be rated at 10 amps ? It’s unlikely I’d see more than 5, but your thoughts would be appreciated.
thanks.

It's not too bad to pull apart. Power supply is the bottom board. I'll pass on anything I find....

Power supply filter capacitor measurement in circuit
Hi
Measuring a 400v 330uf capacitor across the bridge rectifier and in circuit with a multimeter on ohms. Measures 360 ohms both ways when polarity on the meter is changed. If this is normal, I'd like a brief lesson
Thanks

Thanks for the help. Both drain connections look rough. I’ll re flow most of the hot side and see where we are

Pulled it apart. First inspection looks like caps open and ice3br1765j is fried. Scorch marks on bottom of board. ...

Marantz m cr611. Switches off. No stby.
Hi
Bit of a weird one. Unit will only stay on for a few minutes and functions correctly while it's on. Output to speakers normal. Then switches off. No power, no standby, unit is dead. 10 minutes later, it can be turned back on and functions normally again. It's not generating any heat. Has anyone seen anything similar ?

Re: Bulbs to avoid in current limiter
Thanks for advice. Difficult to find incandescents at the correct wattage without a remortgage. I've resorted to going round elderly relatives and paying for new bulbs for their old gear

Bulbs to avoid in current limiter
Hi all,
Just putting my first current limiter together (uk). Apart from led's, are there any bulbs that will not function as needed? Any advice much appreciated.

Re: Pioneer VSX 531.Sourcing zener diodes
I'm not sure. The 5 channels are all using the same component and they're very small, although there is room on the board.

Re: Sourcing zener diodes
You're correct about the RS code. The component I think will be a replacement is TZX4v3B. Just checked the basket that has been there for three days

Re: Sourcing zener diodes
Farnell had a 6 week lead time for a minimum 1000 order IIRC. The ZJ code is the original component.

Pioneer VSX 531.Sourcing zener diodes
Hi,
Pioneer VSX 531
I have a zener - ZJ4v3b - to replace on a pioneer AV amp. Closest replacement I can find is NZX4v3b (I think!)
I can only find them at RS and in quantities of 200.
Wondered if anyone can guide me to another replacement or a supplier that doesn't require a 200 lot order ?
Many thanks.Last edited by Fritter; 07-31-2023, 09:42 AM.

Your most useful test equipment.
Hi All,
For some background, I passed an OND in electronics in the 80's. Life took me elsewhere, and I've finally got around to using it practically. My interest is in vintage electronics.
My question is, other than a multimeter, what is the most used and useful piece of test equipment ?
Thanks !
