Not as lucky as I'd hoped, Westinghouse LD-4255VX

    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...t=westinghouse

I'd seen a lot of the above thread the last few weeks and have been looking to get my hands on a non-working Westinghouse LED. Last night an LD-4255VX with the same symptoms pops up on Craigslist for a price I can deal with. I went and picked it up today. There's a little door on the back to access the mainboard without removing the back. I undid the top ribbon, plugged it in, and tried to power it on. No dice, just a red LED on the front when plugged in. I unplugged it, re-inserted the top ribbon, undid the bottom ribbon, and plugged it back in. Still no dice, still just a solid red LED on front. I pulled the cover off and removed the main board from the TV. I immediately saw the fried IC in the pic below. Ugh, this is a super expensive board. Just my luck

I'll try to get a pic to see if we can read a part number.

It's the HDMI receiver IC... Probably not readily available due to copyright protection. Try removing it: the set will probably work without HDMI.

You probably had a surge which killed the HDMI and many other components. Tracing down the fault may be next to impossible. New board time, I guess... Sorry...

I may just stick this one under the counter until I can find a replacement board.

Sorry it didn't work out for you, and you probably already know this, but it's a different mobo, different tv than the one in that tread. 42" vs 46"......just saying.

Looks like an entirely different board. Ours have Zoran processors.

The symptoms sound like a Westinghouse monitor that was going to be given to me, but it had a blue LED lit. Just makes me suspect an IC got fried in it too during power trouble in Hudson, Massachusetts.

What's the likely outcome of using the board from a smaller set? No picture?? Mangled picture?? They look identical but there's about a hundred dollar difference in price.

What is the panel in your model? The 26" is:
                        K260H1-E03 Rev 01

If you have the equivalent, but 42", it should work.

It looks like my panel may be K420H2-E01 Rev 01

                            http://www.shopjimmy.com/westinghous...-version-1.htm

Does that sound like an equivalent? I'm still going to open it back up and confirm the panel before I buy anything.

Is there any T-con on this model?

I can't find any datasheet for the panel. Problem is, one could be e.g. 720p (likely if it is a 26") and this might be 1080p?

Looks like they're both 1080p. The difference that stands out and will likely prove to be the deal breaker is the 42" is 120Hz while the 26" is only 60Hz.

That would be the end of it all if the main board has 120Hz output. Does the 42" have a T-con?

T-con suspect issue. Both ribbon cables no picture. One ribbon cable ok. (58pus8545)

Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

                                          Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

                                          First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

                                          Quick question about the ribbon

                                          Hey,

So I have horizontal lines on my TV and I'm trying to trouble shoot. My question about the ribbon is:

When I disconnect one ribbon from the t-con I should get half picture working and other half black or something like that correct? But when I disconnect the ribbon on one side I just get a dark screen and it doesn't matter what side I disconnect. I just get the dark screen. No half working, no one half black and the other one left. Sound is playing from the TV so it's obviously on and when both sides are connected I have the picture with the horizontal lines...

UN70NU6900FXZA Won't Boot Unless I Temporarily Disconnect Right LVDS Ribbon
                                          by Scincidae
I recently was given a UN70NU6900FXZA that would only boot loop once plugged in (auto powers on when plugged in). I found that disconnecting the lower (right side) LVDS ribbon, then plugging the TV in, followed by reconnecting the lower LVDS ribbon will allow the TV to work 100% normal as far as I can tell (no lines, no discoloration, no dimming or anything like that).

I tried the tape method on the lower LVDS ribbon and found that if I cover pins 10 and 11 (counting from the bottom up) allows the TV to boot normal but 25% screen all the way to the right side is discolored. While...

50" LG tv with a slightly torn ribbon cable ~ Any repair method?
                                          by kca
                                          Hello all ~

I have this LG 50" plasma tv that is in perfect working condition except for the fact that it has one (and only one), singular torn ribbon strip on one (and only one) of the 8 orange ribbon connectors that feed from the Y-Sustain to the screen itself.

So, as a result, there is one, singular thin black horizontal line that goes across the entire screen. Distracting enough to render the picture unwatchable for all intents and purposes.

What I am wondering is if anyone out there has ever had any success in fixing one of these ribbon cables...

Samsung UN65TU8000 - Panel Issue [ hole in ribbon cable ]
                                          by NWArkGuy
Well, I will be the first to admit that I screwed up...

In attempting to replace the backlight in a UN65TU8000, I made a hole through one of the ribbon cables between the board that runs along the bottom of the back of the TV and the panel. This lead to a between a 1/4 to 1/2 inch vertical stripe running the full height of the image.

I don't have the experience; personally, to solder a bridging wire for the paths that were cut. So, I have been on the hunt for other Samsung TV's of similar size.

I have 2 that I have found and have in my possession. ...
