    Lg 42pc1d

Hi all i have got an LG 42PC1D that I have been having problems with for the past year and a half ish, The problem it's self started by the picture being distorted when the TV is first switched on, after a couple of minutes the picture restores it's self to full color. Now last week the TV stopped putting out any picture/really dark. I took the back off the TV and I noticed that 2 caps are swollen on the main power board. any idea's if this would be my problem as I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to TV diagnostics.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers Greig

It's a good idea to replace the capacitors if they are failed. While they may not cause the current issue, they give you a baseline to work from.

Can we see a picture of the current fault... and any chance you took a photo of the fault it had previously?

Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of it previously and I have replaced the capacitors this morning and plugged it all back in to no avail :/ just a black screen

Really dark, so you can see an image, but it is faint?

Do you have a digital multimeter?

OK, let's see some pictures of the chassis layout then. Long time since I worked on one of these.

OK, so in the middle of the chassis, you have the power board.

On the left, from your photo, you have the Y-sustain and Y-buffer.

On the right, you have the Z-sustain.

Can you get a close up shot of the power leads going to the Y-sustain from the power supply?

So, get your meter out, set it on the HIGHEST volt DC scale, probe one of the pins marked V-S (red probe on the pin, black probe on the chassis) and report the reading. Note, the connection to the Y-SUS and Z-SUS must be left in place.

189V is fine for this generation of PDP.

You have two fuses on each board, right? See what voltage you get on each end of each fuse.

one fuse on each board reads 190V the other reads 60v on each board.
