    Issues with Bauer XT37

hi guys friend brought round a Bauer XT37 LCD tv, he told me that it cut off and he seen some smoke come from it i plugged in tv and as i thought had no power whatsoever, popped open the casing and noticed that the 6 Amp fuse had totaly blown. this may sound stupid but i replaced it with a 2 Amp fuse and tried the tv again to which i got a Red LED, took tv out of standby and power light then went blue. only thing is the tv appears to be on but nothing happens. cant see anything displayed on screen and deffo no backlighting, could this be down to the fuse ??

also had a look around and found this but thought it was rather expensive or is it a good deal ?

Wouldn't be as silly as using a 20 amp fuse, but you need to check and see if that fuse powers just e.g. the backlight section or the whole PSU, and if it has blown again. Other things to consider are fusible resistors and soldered in fuses.

I am surprised you even need to ask- say what they should be (if marked) and what they are.
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

selldoor the pins leading to the other boards are all marked with volatges apart from the ones leading to the inverter.. theres a plate on top of the inverter, you think if i pop it off it will have the voltages on the inverter side ?

                  Re: Issues with Bauer XT37

I have no idea but bearing in mind you have no back light you are going to want to look at the inverter board in any case.
If you want us to look at it take a CLEAR picture half of those above are out of focus
-do you look at them fullscreen before you post them?

The colour of the wires is a good clue, red positive/black negative going to inverter, you need no more information given "every" inverter is 24V rated.

Seems like you are missing all except standby. Check those voltages (a post with text is all that is necessary) with both TV in standby (immediately plugged in) and after pressing the power button.

So are you getting 380vdc on that large 450v black cap? If not, the PFC is not working, not 100% sure since picture is not clear but it does look like it has the PFC.

Or myself. Invest in a decent camera and consider taking pictures in sunlight or under a bright light to shorten the exposure time.

getting 333v from the 450v cap when tv is switched on ? the one that was there looked to be bulged so i replaced it with a new one

put black probe on chassis and red on pins as normal and all red ones returned 0V

That voltage should kick up to around 380~390VDC if the PFC booster is working, right now it is not working.

We still do not know if PSON is coming on though as he has not indicated the voltages in both states on the main board connector.

will check the voltages leading to the mainboard from the PSU twic. on standby and switched on and repor back thanks
