    POLAROID TDA-03211C Backlight issue

Ok so I am working on a POLAROID TDA-03211C. Backlight issues. Recapped the PSU board. Replaced all caps, larger ones were blown. Still backlight will not stay on and red light on PSU flashes red. Thanks to these forums I checked the circuit board inside the lcd panel itself where the ccfl lamps solder into. And sure enough near the top on one of the boards where the high voltage wire from the PSU board connects, there had been arcing and it burned out a ceramic cap and burned the trace and made a hole in the board. My question is, can I bypass the traces on the board with wire? If so what kind? I know this is high voltage, but the solder traces on the board were not that beefy. I have replacement ceramic caps as well. Another question is why did this happen in the first place? My theory is bad solder connection for the ceramic caps lead to arcing against the metal frame of the lcd panel. What do you think?

Thanks for the reply. I plan on replacing all the ceramic caps now. Still need to know how to best bypass the burned circuit board traces.

You can use magnet wire (enamel coated wire), what ever you do, make sure to clean the board real well with Acetone or Alcohol. It will arc like crazy if there is any contamination or carbon traces due to high voltage arcing. I had to open my panel twice and ending up using Silicone RTV to coat on the cap and wire exposed solder pads.

Cool. So the RTV can be used to insulate? Could I use regular 16 gauge zip wire? or would that not be thick enough?

It is high voltage low current, the wire used for the lamps are 22~24AWG with silicone insulation.

              Hi everyone,

I am trying to fix a samsung washinmachine power supply main board.
I already replaced it with another one to fix the machine but i want to try understand the issue with the old board.
Therefore i hope to be able to get some help to explain what to check in order to troubleshoot.
The power supply board reference is the following: DC41-00189a

Help Needed: Samsung UE55MU8000 Dead - Possible Main Board Issue
              by Asraf Atb
              Hi everyone,

Im looking for some advice regarding my Samsung UE55MU8000 TV with main board model BN94-11606C. The TV suddenly stopped turning on and now shows no signs of life at all not even the standby light at the bottom.

Initially, I suspected an issue with the PSU, so I took it to a repair center. They tested it and confirmed that the PSU works perfectly, even on other TVs. Based on that, I started investigating the main board.

I disconnected the main board from the PSU, and the backlight turned on, which seems to confirm the main board is the issue....

              TCL 55RP620K power board issue
              by notallbad
Originally the tv arrived with dimmed backlights (not failed leds) but everything else worked ok. Adjusting backlight in menu did nothing but voltage changed on dimming control pins,
              0% p_dim at 1.65v and a_dim at 1v
              50% p_dim at 3.3v and a_dim at 1.65v
              100% p_dim at 3.3v and a_dim at 2.88v

Changed backlight leds anyway as always like to have complete peace of mind they wont fail shortly after selling the tv. No change as expected!

Leds are 2 rows of 15 6v leds.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
              by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

              Assuming...

All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
              • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
              • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault
