    Element FLX-3210 Won't Turn On

I picked this Element FLX-3210 up last weekend. It wouldn't power on. The LED is red when plugged in and should turn blue when the set comes on. When I opened it up, there were two bulged 450uf 10V capacitors. I bought new ones and installed them last night. Here's my dilema.

This set has touch buttons across the front of the bezel. They're not typical push buttons. There's no physical confirmation that the button has been pushed. I can't tell if the power supply still won't come on , if the button board is not working correctly, or if I'm just doing it wrong.

I'll post pictures of the power supply connectors in a little while. Maybe one of you can help me force this thing on.

Those caps normally cause a failure to light the backlight or flickering of the backlight.
The problem is probably elsewhere on the PSU. These are also notorious for diodes shorting on the 5V standby and 5V main rails.

My PSU seems to be working. I see the 24V and the 5Vstb, I also measure 400V across the big cap. Would a shorted diode allow the PSU to work at all? I'm heading home in about 20 minutes. I'll post all pin labels and voltages soon.

It would cause no power on the appropriate output and any other outputs it is associated with (on same transformer), you may be looking at main board fault.

So, I wasn't able to get pictures, but I did confirm that all voltages are present. I'll focus on the mainboard for now.

Question for Tom really - could a diode fail in some way but not go short and somehow trick the PFC to start up giving him 400v at plug in rather than switch on.

              Diodes almost always fail short.
In rare cases they can fail leaky.

I can't think of a secondary diode causing a problem with PFC.

Hey, I have the other post on the same tv. It usually takes me a couple tries but I just push on the power button and the standby light goes from red to blue. Why not try your remote?

Re: Element FLX-3210 Won't Turn On

I bought a used main board via eBay. I put it in and the set would power on for a second, the LED would change from red to blue, V across the big cap would go from 169 to 390, and the outputs from the PSU would appear. Then after a second, the LED shut off completely before retuning to red and the PSU shut off again. I returned the board and will likely part this one out. A 6 year old, 32" Element TV without a remote is not worth the cash to justify getting this one working.

I am having the same issue with a FLX-3210. I have checked voltages on the output connectors. I see all of the voltages. The 12 volt output is only about 10.8 volts but all others are correct. I don't know the history of the set. I was wondering if there is a way to check to make sure the power button is working? Also this maybe one with the VGA issue. Is there a way to check to see if the VGA caused problems? Also is there a way to force the power supply on? Thanks guys for any help.

Me again Also I just checked voltage at the large capacitor before touching power button =296 volts. After touching power button no difference. I am not sure that this is being told to turn on. Once again thanks and hope everyone has a great day.

Hello, i have some issues with my laptop Lenovo Y700-17ISK (motherboard BY511 NM-A541), it started when i turn on the laptop, but the lcd wont turn on, i then connected it via hdmi to tv and screen was ok. So i thought maybe lcd stripe is faulty, i removed the bottom cover, disconnected main battery, reset the cmos by disconnecting battery for 1 min, then slighty move the lcd stripe. Conncted power supply and tuned on my laptop, the lcd turn on, it started to load os, then it turn off, after a second it turn on, then after like 3 seconds turn off again, and so on. Removed power supply, waited...

                          To all the members here...

Let me tell you a little bit about what happened to my laptop (MSI GF63 THIN 11UCX model: MS-16R6) that “maybe” you know how to solve this problem.

So before this problem happened, my laptop was running smoothly. When I wanted to restart my laptop, it looked fine at first. But after I waited for this restart process to take a long time, until finally I panicked (because the restart process did not finish plus the laptop screen only showed a black screen), I immediately pressed and held the power button to force the laptop to turn off. But...

                          by robante15
Hello, I have an Acer Aspire 4520 from a couple of decades ago and I want to repair it solely for nostalgia.

It happens that when I turn it on after having been disconnected for a long time, it turns on without problems, it tells me that the BIOS has been reset and that it will load the factory settings, if I tell it to continue, the computer turns on and everything works fine.

The moment I turn it off and want to turn it back on a second time, or restart it and try to start it again, it no longer gives an image, and it no longer responds.

                          If I remove the...

                          Hi everyone,

I am dealing with the problem of turning on and off my Dell e7470 notebook.

The battery charge light is solid white, I press the button, the power indicator and the light on the button are solid for 1-2 seconds and immediately turn off.

The system does not turn on, there is no post.

I removed the RAMs and changed them, changed the battery, RTC battery, AC adapter, removed them and waited, tried again, it does not turn on.
The problem continues in the same way.
I tried to turn on the Fn key, nothing came to the screen....
