Re: 40" Sony LCD KDL-40EX500 Seconds to black (6 blinks)
I found the diodes for the left and right transformers but couldn't find the one for the middle one.
Both D101 and D103 measure at 3.63V when the backlights come on and 0V when off then itll increase by 0.04V with each cycle.

OK, looking at pic:

D101 is one diode for the error feed back.
There will be one other diode for each transformer.
Check the single lone pin for a voltage on each diode.Leave a comment:

Re: 40" Sony LCD KDL-40EX500 Seconds to black (6 blinks)
Seems OK. Looks to use a design where the middle of the panel is driven using a smaller transformer, odd design. I'd look elsewhere on the inverter, can we have close up pic around each transformer?Leave a comment:

Re: 40" Sony LCD KDL-40EX500 Seconds to black (6 blinks)
It is Samsung LCD, so it uses U-shape CCFL
http://backlightweb.co.uk/images/lar...ture%20007.jpg
So each group of two pins (going to transformer secondary) is one bulb connection; that is where you should test.Leave a comment:

Re: 40" Sony LCD KDL-40EX500 Seconds to black (6 blinks)
Those are the pins toward the output to the ccfls correct? Do I just measure the resistances in circuit? pins 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 2-3, 2-4, etc?
I also have an inductance meter.
Heres a video of the backlights when I tore it down

All the lamps seem to turn on fine. Would it still be a bad transformer?Leave a comment:

OK, I'd suspect the transformers (test secondary resistance); if it's not that, could be the bulbs in the panel.Leave a comment:

Yep.
Gonna need a pic of the inverter.Leave a comment:

Re: 40" Sony LCD KDL-40EX500 Seconds to black (6 blinks)
Alright just grounded it, okay now it turns on normal, sony logo comes up, goes to hdmi input, then backlight shuts off. With a flashlight I can see the input and also when the menu if I bring it up.
So the cycling stopped, thus the problem is with the inverter board itself?Leave a comment:

Re: 40" Sony LCD KDL-40EX500 Seconds to black (6 blinks)
Ohh okay, it was on the side going to the inverter. So the right end of the resistor should go to ground?Leave a comment:

Re: 40" Sony LCD KDL-40EX500 Seconds to black (6 blinks)
On which end is that?
The BL_ERR on PSU needs to go to ground thru 100 ohms. Inverter side disconnected. Is this what you have done? But you still measure 3.3V?Leave a comment:

Yep, it just goes thru PSU to reduce wiring clutter.Leave a comment:

Re: 40" Sony LCD KDL-40EX500 Seconds to black (6 blinks)
One from inverter to main board; the signal is a message from the inverter saying "houston, we have a problem", main board says "shit guys! let's shut this whole show down" and then restarts.Leave a comment:

Re: 40" Sony LCD KDL-40EX500 Seconds to black (6 blinks)
Which one should I cut? theres one output going to the main board and one going to the inverter. I'm guessing the one leading to the inverter? I'll have to find a 100 ohm resistor from a salvaged board.Leave a comment:

Re: 40" Sony LCD KDL-40EX500 Seconds to black (6 blinks)
So, it is signalling an error.
Can I make a suggestion: Cut BL_ERR and force it low, using a 100 ohm resistor. Then see if the cycling continues. If not, then you need to suspect the inverter board itself.Leave a comment:

Re: 40" Sony LCD KDL-40EX500 Seconds to black (6 blinks)
Yep theres a BL_ERR. It measures 3.3V on standby and once the backlights turn on it drops to 0.04V then back up to 3.3V when off, and cyclesLeave a comment:

by maudaI'm currently working on repairing a malfunctioning Sony TV model KD-65XE7005 with the mainboard 1-981-926-21. I would appreciate your assistance with this issue.
Upon powering on the TV, the Sony logo appears for approximately 3 seconds, after which the backlight remains lit, the screen remains black, and nothing else happens. The TV consumes around 55W initially and then drops to 35W. The indicator LED remains solid white. It doesn't respond to the remote control. When attempting to update the TV using a USB dongle, the dongle briefly flashes but nothing else happens.

by tec3000Hi community! Germany calling
I am wondering if you guys can help me out. I have an issue with my Sony LED TV. I've been told this is a good place to ask. Thanks for anyone who will reply and offer advice. Appreciated!
I have a KD-65X9005A Sony 4k LED TV. For a few weeks I've got this problem where I turn on the TV and within a few seconds the TV starts getting darker until it shuts itself off and I get the 4 blinking error code. HOWEVER there is one exception: Whenever I switch to the i-Manual, a full screen on-screen instruction manual, the TV never turns off. I tested for hours!... -
by AK_777Hi everyone!
I have a Sony KD-65A1 TV with a fault – 4 red LED blinks. After disassembly and visual inspection, I found that the G76 power board and DKA board had been replaced. It is also possible that TCON was replaced, but I am not sure – there are a few marker marks that could be factory-made.
Based on assumptions, the previous service attempted to solve the issue by replacing potentially faulty components. I decided to investigate further, found a service manual, and figured out a way to power up the power supply unit autonomously and put the OLED panel and... -
by jchonHi I'm new to trying to repair TVs, but I saw a broken OLED offered for a reasonable price and thought I'd try my hand at it.
I found the service manual, which was critical to know where to probe.
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/20...1e-Series.html
With it I was able to determine that my DKA board was bad, when P_ON#1/2 gets enabled REG_12 on the DKA board collapses. I'm assuming one of the downstream regulators has a short, but I couldn't work out which rail/component and replaced the DKA board entirely.
Unfortunately the 5-blinks... -
by NicktronicHi all,
I have the subject TV and it will work normally sometimes but suddenly go black and give the 2 red blinks blink code. When this happens, I check the power supply board voltages and all I have is the Standby 3.3V and BL_ERR 2.2V. When it's working normally, all power supply board voltages look normal and stable. I've checked the backlights with a tester and they all test good. I've also read that the 2 red blinks is a faulty power supply board, so could it be throwing up an erroneous BL_ERR?
Any Sony experts out there that can help??... - Loading...
