    LCD TV and Monitor basic troubleshooting guides

    I cannot find the original post so this is the new post that I will have it liked to my signature file. It will be good if it can be on the sticky.

    Notes: When make voltage measurement in the DEADLY Primary (HOT) side, the negative leg of the LARGE filter cap will be the ground ref.
    The chassis will be the ground ref for the Secondary (COLD) side.
    You should at least plug the unit you are working on into the GFCI outlet for safety.

          Great job Bud M. Very handy and informative guides. I am sure these will be of great use to a lot of people. Certainly agreed that these should be 'stickied'.

                                      May I ask you, if you could include in these documents, some pictures with the standby voltage area(or other important areas of the device), the most important ICs(and what they do), how do we know if the PS should have 166V or 450V.

                                                                                  Someone gave me their old monitor, it's Dell S2715ht.
                                                                                  The owner was using it when his PSU began to smell and then to smoke. It literally began to melt. He turned the monitor off, pulled the PSU, and ditched it because it was smelly even after it cooled. So I got the monitor but not the plug.
                                                                                  Now, I tried to bring the monitor back to life, by plugging one of my many Dell laptop PSUs.                                                                                   Hello everyone!
                                                                                  As mentioned in the topic i am debugging a VG32VQ monitor which has a quite curios issue. For starters the backlight is working, the mainboard is also working and audio is being normally played thru the speakers. The problem of the monitor is that the screen is always blank(you can see the backlight turns on since the screen brightens a little bit but still black). When plugged into a computer the monitor is detected and HDMI signal is being broadcast to the monitor(checked with a data analyzer). The monitor panel should not be damaged but i am open to this option.

                                                                                  I purchased a preowned AOC monitor that is not working and out of warranty. It was sold as not working.
