What about sound? connect a video source (a demo for instance) and see..Most probably, leds (one or more) are sick!!

LED current consumption in LED LCD TVs
Is there a way to reduce the number of leds (3 arrays, 7 leds in each in the 32" LG TV I'm working on right now... no backlight) without loosing on lighting and picture quality...? 3 strips of 6 in each for instance? Should I in this case introduce a resistance somewhere in the circuit to assure right current value, in order to protect the new leds?

Help to find cheapest 12V/5A power supply
I have a THOMSON 24" LCD TV that works with an external 12V/5A (in fact 5.2A rated current consumption). The CHINA-made smps I bought with it just literally burned after a few hours of continuous watching. Any cheap do-it-yourself design of such a SMPS??A 12V car battery is not a good solution.

SHARP LCD TV LC-3244E-BK: No Backlight
TV on by main AC and then by Remote: front LED green. After about 5sec: complete shut down, LED becomes red. All repeats if disconnected and connected again to AC power.
In this TV both SMPS and Inverter are on the same board (Power/Inverter UNIT):
RUNTKA396WJQZ.
I know by (some/humble) experience that fault might be in lamps. My question is: Is there a way to know for sure that that's the case and not a problem in Power/inverter unit, such as a defective HV transformer or inverter IC (BD9883) fault?
NOTE: All three DC voltages are present: 60V, 13V and 9V.

T-con or Main board Fault in LED TVs
I must say I'm new with LED TV repair...
First: What's different from LCDs besides Backlighting?? What does the absence of backlight mean in most cases of LED TVs? (sound good...)
Can someone explain how the LEDs (in the four edges of the panel) are mounted in the circuitry and powered? Are they in series? What are the voltages involved, led driver board ?
secondly:
Is there a way to quickly detect weather a fault in Led TVs (such as " Backlight ON but NO Picture") is in the T-con or the Main...Last edited by Ahakim; 11-09-2015, 04:21 PM.

Re: TV Power Supply Unit
I think the main cause is that manufacturers don't reveal their "secrets" as easily...specially of newer brands (The laws of Market competition!!). I might be wrong though...
How do you explain that PSU circuit diagrams of older (such as 2002 or 2008 versions of LCD/PLASMA TVs) can easily be found?

Re: Samsung PS-42C96HD DEAD
This is all the info. I can read on the back cover of the 42" SAMSUNG TV (I mentioned earlier):
PLASMA DISPLAY
Model: PS-42C96HD
Model code: PS42C96HDX/XEC
Type No.: CA42C9
AC 220-240V 60Hz 380W
Manufactured: January 2008
Made in SLOVAKIA
As for the PSU part ref:

DYP-42W2 PLUS
Rev 1.0
Code: BN44-00194A
Input: 200-240VAC
50/60HZ 480W
Now if you can help find the schematic of this power supply...Last edited by Ahakim; 07-30-2014, 02:35 PM.

Re: Samsung PS-42C96HD DEAD
Yes you're right...In fact I wrote all the info. of the power board on a sheet of paper...I closed the TV ... I left the sheet in my workshop...I'm now dead tired at home...
That will be for TOMORRROW...
Thanks anyway.

SAMSUNG PS-42C96HD dead: Problem Solved
Thanks to the infos I received on this forum... Good guys...the problem is solved:
Indeed the ZENER ZDB803 must be a no less than 15 no more than 30 volts. the ref. on the diode is gone(from heat).
(although the schematic is not exactly the same)
The DATASHEET of the VIPer22A says: 9 to 38V for VDD of IC at Pin 4 (as you may see...)
The schematic (special thanks to tw2005) indicates 2 15V ZENERS 1N5245B in series, while in the TV I'm working on there is only one.(I think this could be annother factor of overheat!!).
MY solution:

I put 2 10V zeners in series and everything is OKKK. The TV became ALIVE again. With these 2 ZENERS in series: no more overheat & I got exactly 17.4...

Samsung PS-42C96HD DEAD
I'm working on a SAMSUNG PS-42C96HD:
TV dead! Not even a standby voltage!
POWER BOARD:
VDD on pin4 of VIPer22A (SMPS primary switcher) is ZERO vollt(s). In fact ZDB803 is short (overheated I guess!?)
Help needed:
-- value of Zener ZDB803
-- typical value of VDD
-- service manual of this TVC...(at least the SMPS cicuit:..)
-- What could be the original cause of this short??
Thanks a lot...I'm working on a SAMSUNG PS-42C96HD:

Re: PLASMA TV 42PA4520-TJ: Vs Short cicuited...
Many thanks for the reply...
In fact the 2 components are designated on PC board as Q's not D's...This why I assumed they should be FET's.. Next to these I can see other similar (in shape) components labeled as D's: each one (when tested) indicates that it is: 2 diodes integtated in one package (the usual double-diode components used in Power Supplies OUTs of of LCD, Plasma...TVs)...
So what do you think...?
I guess I must figure out what their function is in the circuit...
I don't have the...

Re: LG 50PQ300 spark from Y-Sus
There must be insulating pads in such TVs. High current/voltage could cause such sparks from too close components from back or to each other...
Check for carbonisation in spark area...Last edited by Ahakim; 05-11-2014, 06:48 AM.

PLASMA TV 42PA4520-TJ: Vs Short cicuited...
I'm working on an LG PLASMA TVC (model: 42PA4520). Short cicuit because of faulty FETs. I can read the following on 2 of these:
G7S313u
I R 235P
B3
and
G7S313U
I R 236P
B4
They seem to be N-channel and P-channel respectively (or vice-versa).
Could anyone help to identify these 2 FETs and/or find possible replacement parts for them? Which one is the N-channel? (or are they both the same?)
thanks...Last edited by Ahakim; 05-11-2014, 06:39 AM.

Factory Reset procedure of NEOVIA LCD 32" TV??
Glad... to find the factory reset procedure (to enter the service mode) of a 32" LCD TV. Brand name: NEOVIA!! Any help?
What happened: TV was in prefect working condition... Then transported by plane to another country (of the same voltage/freq. rating). Power On: the red indicator goes on. Powered ON by button in the TV set: indicator led blinks ON & OFF. ON & OFF ...and stays in this condition! without any result!!
Any explanation?? I thought I'd start with a factory reset!
Remote lost in shipping!!!Glad... to find the factory reset procedureLast edited by Ahakim; 04-21-2014, 04:14 PM.

Re: Samsung PLASMA PS50C450B1W: Y-Buffer board Problem!!
Sorry...I don't really get what you said in the first reply. Can you be more explicit. Ok ...I'll try ... Thanks anyway.
Note: There is only ONE long Y-Buffer board in this TV.Last edited by Ahakim; 02-06-2014, 03:36 PM.
