    Sylvania LC370SS8 M2 (37" lcd) - Possible Acquisition?

Hi again Badcaps members. I've had an offer to sell me this tv but I am worried that it's the panel that is bad.

Here is what the person tells me:

Powers on, screen is black with a vertical white line illuminated also have remote control. Line is about 1-2 inches wide. Model number LC370SS8 M2
I've tried to do as much research before posting, as to not just be a freeloader on here My research tells me it's very possibly a panel, but also could be t-con.

What do you guys think, Bad panel?

I want to also thank everyone here for all of the information that you provide! It's awesome and I feel I am learning fast. I will return the favor when I think I can lol. (I'm currently awaiting a cap(c857) for a $40 proscan 55"...crossing fingers)

Thanks for confirming Tom! I thought I read on here that any vertical lines/bands indicate bad panel.

I'm certainly not interested in selling parts on ebay either. I would imagine that boards sit for a long time before selling...

If its super cheap just get it for parts.
Do NOT touch heatsinks when testing for voltages as they may be LIVE!

Hi gilly! I did tell him that I would "take it off his hands, but cannot invest in it". That would be super cheap! I'm in a tight financial situation so don't want to put out money that will take a long time to recoup.

          Thanks for the reply!

So I think I may have buggered something up.

The video on this set was working, but the VCR did not work (it would attempt to read the tape, then eject it). I was thinking I could clean the mode switch on the VCR board and reassemble—I was able to do that and get it reassembled, but now cannot get anything to display (and additionally the VCR is not loading tapes properly, so I suspect I didn't get the mode switch oriented correctly when I reassembled it, but I will revisit that later).

I can see the filament glow when I power the set on, and audio seems to be working...

Cheap fix for Sylvania LC370SS8 brief power up then shutdown.
            by johnboy1313
Picked up this 37" Sylvania (cheap crap) LC370SS8 today I brought it home and plugged it in. The red LED came on, immediately turned green and flashed a few times at which point the screen came on, showed the words "DIGITAL TELEVISION", and the whole set shut back down. I opened it up and after going over it a bit, I found that the wires for most of the bulbs had apparently arced through the casings. To confirm the fix, I cut up individual pieces of bubble wrap and stuck them between the wires to prevent the arcing. I powered the set up and it worked. I then powered it back down...

Unable to extract Lenovo BIOS file from installer
            by survivalbloke
I'm working on a Lenovo LOQ 15APH8, Serial# MP2L9MAV. I want to flash a new BIOS onto it, but I'm also trying to learn this process for my own enrichment and professional development.

I was watching some tutorials, copying the serial info blocks from the old bios to a new bios. Before that though, they use innoextract on the Lenovo .exe. I downloaded Innoextract v1.9 but it tells me my .exe is not a supported inno setup installer(see screenshot). So if I unpack this using 7zip, I do get a .ROM file, but according to my tutorials, I'm looking for a .FD file.

            How can...

Any helpful Apple Airpods Max repair tutorials?
            by dbuergi
            Hi all,

title says it all. I have Airpods Max which no charing light. Reset lights show up when i connect a USB charger and push the buttons but not loading or bluetooth reaction. USB meter shows 5v, 0,6a and 1,8-3,2w (differs on used charger).
The videos i found about repairs are more something like a try and error with changing parts or battery replacement but no direct fault analysis.
So maybe anybody here has experience in repairs or can help me to locate the problem? My stomach tells me that i need a new battery but 50€ for a feeling is too much.
