Hey guys, first of all I want to tell you how much I appreciate all of your expertise, and I know you guys are masters at what you do. With that being said, I just started fixing TV's as a hobby not too long ago. I started with just ordering whatever board a tv needed, but lately I have been wanting to fix them at a component level, and I have had success and luck with all of the TV's having bulging/leaking caps. This particular TV however has me pulling my hairs at times. The NS-LTDVD19 does not turn on at all, not even the small LED light in the front of the tv blinks, lights or anything. I took a picture of the PSU so you guys can see what I am talking about. I was looking for bulging/leaking caps, but they all look good in that aspect. I did not remove them from circuit, but I did check them with my DMM on diode mode and they all give me about the same value. I checked what is in the two red boxes, one is a B20H100G which I believe is called a schottky barrier rectifier, and the other one is a K2843 but I don't know what it might be. The only datasheets I can find state it is a N channel transistor but the legs are not the same. The Gate and Source legs on mine are bent forward while the Drain leg stays put in the back. The one they show on the datasheet has all three legs in the same position. Any way I checked both of these in diode mode and placing my black lead on the middle drain and the red on gate. then I placed my red lead on the source (third leg) and I get the same reading on both sides. What is boxed in blue on the picture is the fuse and I also checked that in diode mode and it checked out good. Where can I go from here and did I check the diodes or transistors correctly? Could it be the two big yellow X2 caps that say CARLI? Are these also tested like regular caps?

Re: NS-LTDVD19 Does not turn on...
The transistor has the lead splaid out to give it high voltage clearance as when operating correctly, that transistor could see over 600V spikes.
Diodes should be checked for single-way conduction. If they are conducting both ways remove and re-test.
Also, I guess you have measured the PSU output and it is...? If it is good, you can rule out the PSU and check the main board. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: NS-LTDVD19 Does not turn on...
Can we see the back side of the board as a whole, and then take the closed up pictures in 1/4 section so we can see the traces on the board. When you are testing the 12v, do you have the output connector connected to the main board. Try just the power supply board by itself.
The ticking sound can mean the power supply is in the loop so it is turning on and off due to overload or it can be due to bad start-up cap.Never stop learning

OK then, do you get about 170vdc on that large AC filter cap on the primary side circuit?Never stop learning

Re: NS-LTDVD19 Does not turn on...
Hey, I'm back. I took pictures of the back side of PSU as you asked, I also tested the big cap you told me to test and it just kept jumping all over the place. I also checked the k2843 mosfet and it also was jumping all over the place until I managed to short it out which then the fuse burnt out so now I have to order the fuse, and I might as well order those two mosfets. Before the fuse blew out I had checked that 12V pin again and it would give me a really low reading. something like .100 something.Comment

Re: NS-LTDVD19 Does not turn on...
It sounds like the main DC filter cap is not good, or your meter is not good, the voltage should be real solid since we do not have any load except the switching of the MOSFET. I hope you did not damage the SMPS IC that drive the MOSFT, also check the resistor connected to the Source pin of the MOSFET for damage.Last edited by budm; 01-16-2013, 09:27 PM.Never stop learning

Sorry, wrong post. Do you have at least cap meter to verify that cap?Last edited by budm; 01-16-2013, 09:28 PM.Never stop learning

by pajdekHello, i have some issues with my laptop Lenovo Y700-17ISK (motherboard BY511 NM-A541), it started when i turn on the laptop, but the lcd wont turn on, i then connected it via hdmi to tv and screen was ok. So i thought maybe lcd stripe is faulty, i removed the bottom cover, disconnected main battery, reset the cmos by disconnecting battery for 1 min, then slighty move the lcd stripe. Conncted power supply and tuned on my laptop, the lcd turn on, it started to load os, then it turn off, after a second it turn on, then after like 3 seconds turn off again, and so on. Removed power supply, waited...

by RdeveLabsTo all the members here...
Let me tell you a little bit about what happened to my laptop (MSI GF63 THIN 11UCX model: MS-16R6) that “maybe” you know how to solve this problem.
So before this problem happened, my laptop was running smoothly. When I wanted to restart my laptop, it looked fine at first. But after I waited for this restart process to take a long time, until finally I panicked (because the restart process did not finish plus the laptop screen only showed a black screen), I immediately pressed and held the power button to force the laptop to turn off. But... -

I have both these laptops that appeared to have the same fault so I thought I would have a go at replacing the PCH as something to learn, they both are using the same PCH.
I started on the ACER:
Up on connecting power no signs of life but current is consumed from the bench power supply and the PCH is hot.
All the caps on the top of the PCH are showing 0 ohms and the 3.3v rail is shorted.

by robante15Hello, I have an Acer Aspire 4520 from a couple of decades ago and I want to repair it solely for nostalgia.
It happens that when I turn it on after having been disconnected for a long time, it turns on without problems, it tells me that the BIOS has been reset and that it will load the factory settings, if I tell it to continue, the computer turns on and everything works fine.
The moment I turn it off and want to turn it back on a second time, or restart it and try to start it again, it no longer gives an image, and it no longer responds.

by masoksianHi everyone,
I am dealing with the problem of turning on and off my Dell e7470 notebook.
The battery charge light is solid white, I press the button, the power indicator and the light on the button are solid for 1-2 seconds and immediately turn off.
The system does not turn on, there is no post.
I removed the RAMs and changed them, changed the battery, RTC battery, AC adapter, removed them and waited, tried again, it does not turn on.
The problem continues in the same way.
I tried to turn on the Fn key, nothing came to the screen.... - Loading...
