My LG 32LH20 LCD. Lines through picture, now no picture.

Tv has been working fine, suddenly while watching it, ive got a bunch of garbled lines through the picture, and through the menus as well.

Stayed like this for awhile, progressively getting more periods of just black, and now its almost constantly black, randomly for a second or so ill get a flash of fully bright picture (with lines through it) backlight appears to be on all the time just from looking in the back of the tv

any ideas on what I should be looking at? I dont see anything up with the power supply but that doesn't mean there isnt.

Include pictures of all the boards (power supply, main, and TCON) using manage attachments with ample lighting and high quality.

I vote for a T-con issue, or the LVDS cable being loose.

When its 'running' there is one green LED lit up on the top right of the main board

Ooh, one of those non-replaceable T-CON that is integrated with the LCD panel assembly.

It is a nice Sharp panel, but shame they did it like that. Wonder why LG used Sharp panel not one of their own?

Try reseating the cable going to the hidden T-con. Otherwise I would suspect the main board. Looking again at the video I'm not so sure it's the T-con at fault. But it's hard to call.

reseating the LVDS has appeared to make no positive or negative effect.

a video of the current state would just be black, it doesnt want to show me anything even distorted picture.

The sound is good all the time?
Right now, the menus are also bad, for example volume control, brightness/contrast...?

the sound is fine yes.
the tv responds to the remote, ie volume, on/off, id assume menu still appears but i cant change any picture settings cause I cant see the menu.

edit: actually that time i got a bit of picture, it was very distorted and purple over everything including menu, but still most of the time no picture just black.

Did you try removing the cable and re-inserting it?

Try both ends too.

Just to make sure, it is the cable just above "INHIBIT COMPONENT PLACE FOR CABLE".

yeah both ends. the top side clips and the bottom onee slides in with the little lifty gate. made sure it was all the way in.

Hi there! With regard this LG 32LH20, with the set off unplug the connector for the control panel, and turn set on using the remote control; if problem still there turn it off;
unplug the IR connector for the remote control; turn set on using the power button on TV. Also check soldering side of power supply for any signs of components legs touching
the metal frame causing erratic symptoms like the ones you're having; if so, use good insulation there to solve this problem.

are you refering to the Tcon or the board that has the volume /channel buttons?
