Shutsdown after 5min. with 4 blink code(backlight trouble)
I read inverter board failures are common

Backlight connector voltage while tv is on.
1)18V= 18.04V.
2)18V= 18.04V.
3)18V= 18.04V.
4)18V= 18.04V.

I think this is a replacement part but i do not want to pay $144 US.

If someone knows what usually causes this error on the inverter, or what parts are needed(if available), I would like to repair the board.
I will post pics tomorrow. to dark now.

-Edit- I just noticed the standby light is not on in front when it is off.

I took the cover off inverter and screwed boards down and now it has not shut off or a blink code for 45 min.. shutdown may occur random but has always been 4 blinks.
Going to leave it going overnight.
I went through this but it didn't help. Same model and panel.

I have 3.327V at stby on power supply but no front stby led when off.
Green power and picture/timer led both work.
I read it goes into stby after sleep timer so I will try that.

This is another tv out of a trailer at the dump but it looks good.

It is a common problem with Sony to have loose lamp connectors on the inverter board. If tightening the screws up doesn't fix it fiddle a bit with the lamp connectors (the new design doesn't use wires but instead metal hooks that go from the inverter into the panel.)

I had a very similar sony bravia, check this thread. Tv is still working fine to this day.

If I remember well I have worked on one of these(or maybe it was 2500?) and I had to replace two ccfl tubes inside the panel. One it was bad and another it was blinking.

Over 12 hrs and still running.
It seems most likely to be a bad connection then.
I went into menu and turned up backlight to max and it is still on.
I will run it this way for a while.

Good score from dump IF it was just a bad connection.
The last sony kdl I got from dump just needed firmware update and worked.

Turn off auto backlight too.

Still no standby led in front. no voltage at the led either
I dont see auto backlight under menu/picture

Mine was a KDL-S40A12, its in the link a couple of posts back.

When off it had no led, on it had green led, when in standby it had red led.

You could only enter standby by pressing power on the remote, power button on tv turns it completely off.

It may be under advanced.

when off, mine doesnt have any led
on it has green
pressed power off remote, no stby led
if i set sleep timer the pic/timer comes on
the manual says when tv goes to sleep it enters standby.
my tv shutoff with sleep timer but stby led never came on.
stby comes on only when there is an error blink code. this must be typical of this model
